TSX turned into a Honda Accord?

I just saw an asian kid this afternoon driving what i thought was a TSX first generation but i looked closely and it was a Honda Accord but with a TSX body?

It looked like he took all the luxury out and put in stock stuff if it was a TSX.. Like the seats were cotton etc..

Who would do such a thing? lol

The European Accord is the Acura TSX. Sometimes people turn them into Honda Accords.

Why would he take out all the luxury out of the vehicle? plus he lowered it and put some ugly side skirts and changed the grill look.. It now looks like a kid's car

yes, it was probably an asian kid.
yes, he took all the acura stuff off.
yes, he probably took out the seats and put bride or recaro seats in.
yes, he labeled everything honda instead of acura.
yes, he lowered it.
yes, he put a body kit on it.
yes, it is a kids car.
no, it's probably not supercharged or turbo charged.
no, it's probably not a track car.
yes, it's just for looks.
why?

why you ask?

he'd rather have the car sold in the rest of the world as the Accord.
he never wanted an acura to start with, but the american Accord wasn't
the right car for him.

many kids do this.

if a part is made in Japan, like our cars are, they call it JDM.
for some reason, JDM parts have some sort of mystique to these kids.

it's 100% about Perceived Image.

to you it looks like total crap, cheap and stupid.
to him it looks authentic, rare, unique, expensive and special.

oh well.

It's all about preference. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's wrong.

Now, I know why Honda put our car as Acura TSX in America, not Accord Euro.
It's just preference. I see people in Japan convert their Acoord into Acura TSX.
Actually Honda is a more well known brand than Acura outside America.

It's funny when you ask this question, simply you don't know much about the TSX.

TSX = Honda Accord Euro/Jap spec anywhere else in the world, so the first minute you bought your TSX, you are buying a Honda. Luxury is personal, if I can afford, I would rip out the front 2 seat and put in Bride/Recaro seat too. At 25, I DO NOT need anything luxury, I just want to drive whatever that I like.

Now, changing the Acura TSX to Honda Accord badge is not his fault, he just want to be the original. Does ripping off the Acura badge a downgrade? Or when Honda decided to snap the Acura badge on the Accord consider a upgrade? No, not at all, it just a marketing scheme to fool consumers.

Acura is the ONLY brand right now without their OWN lines of cars, well, other than MDX, RDX and TL. Lexus takes a more serious step by differential Toyota and Lexus, that's why they consider a luxury brand, Acura never does.

another thing to note.

Acura used to make the Integra.
Acura used to make the RSX.

now, that being said, there's a huge following of Acura
owners from those two cars.

Tuner crowd, it's called usually.

After pulling the RSX, the TSX was the only close thing
that Acura made for these people to move on to.

So many Prelude owners, RSX owners and Integra owners
have switched to the TSX from those cars for lack of a
better model for them made by the Honda company.

So yes, the TSX is a "entry level luxury sport sedan," but
not all people buy it for the "luxury" it offers.

in fact, I would say, on this website less than 1/2 of the people
bought the TSX as a "luxury" car, they bought it as a sports sedan.

Many things, like the lip kits, headlamps/taillamps, grilles and so on
to most of us just look plain better on the accord then they do on
the acura. and if you're going to put a bunch of accord parts on your
TSX, you mise well go all the way with the badging and such, right?

bottom line: to each their own. to many of us the TSX made into Accords
are just plain hot and speak of extreme care and detail in the car. those
little changes like the grille and side skirts are a huge improvement to some,
and our cheap leather is nothing to be proud of.

I personally tend to like the TSX converts, overall I like the look better.
but for me, I'll just drive my Acura with certain honda parts here and there.

It's all about what looks best to the owner.

Well the TL was available in Japan as a Honda Saber and the MDX was also available as a Honda MDX in Japan. As for Lexus up until 2006 every Lexus vehicles were available as Toyota in Japan or the US. GS/Aristo, ES/Camry, GX/Land Cruiser Prado, LX/Land Cruiser, RX/Harrier, LS/Celsior, IS/Altezza. Only in 2006 did Toyota decided to start underpinning Lexus vehicle in its own platforms. And that had to do with Lexus entering Japan as Lexus. So it couldn't have Lexus vehicles that were identical to cheaper Toyotas. So Lexus could only considered full stand alone company starting 2006.

Acura RSX = Honda Integra

All Integras are made by Honda, some got Acura badges and exported to America and some part of Asia.

JDM/EDM Accord have more options as far as engines go. We have the K24A2 as our only engine in CL9 and K24Z3 in the CU2. JDM/EDM Accords have K24A3, and K20A, and the diesel available

Because it's a HONDA Legend in other parts of the world...

You're actually the reason that the 'A' badge exists in the U.S.

^^^Just to note, I don't have any preference to rebadge my Acura as a Honda... but I'm one of the (as MMs hypothesized) guys who bought the TSX as a sports sedan, not as a lux-ish sedan...

of course, when I pay premium for a Japanese vehicle, I want to see the "A", "L", or one of those "A" without the "-" on the hood.

I am not a kid
I am not Asian
I do not like the American Accord
I do not like chrome
And everyone have their taste and style like puttind 22" chrome wheels on an American Accord and yes my car it is much slower than a STI or EVO but gives me 37 mpg on the freeway that's with the ac off and cruise control at 65 mph

I *understand* what you're saying... but then you're actually admitting that you're paying a "premium" for the badge - and that's it. Since the car of your choosing is simply a rebadge of a Honda, Toyota, etc. with perhaps leather seats thrown in, the only extra dough you're throwing down is for the swap from 'H' to 'A'.

Again, I'm not a JDM fanatic (although I can appreciate those that are), but let's just put everything into perspective...

I like this look personally. I don't think having a Euro Accord in the US is a kid thing - it's unique because they don't sell them here. I think it's a good way to get something unique and different.

The first time I heard about rebadging was when people were rebadging their nissan/infiniti to the skyline. In high school, they would all pretend that they had spent alot of money having it imported here. Now that everyone knows that the cars aren't imported, they just say they want to be unique. Either that, or they'd rather have an upgraded Honda than a entry-level Acura ;-P

it's funny how people still hate on others' preferences. be and let be. someone changed their TSX, and you don't like it.. so what? is it your car? nope. so why do you care? It's like being enraged that someone has a haircut that you would never think of having on yourself. ridiculous

I bought my TSX as a sport sedan. The luxury niceties are a bonus. I would probably be just as happy (or happier) in a Honda S2000 with half of the convenience items of the TSX. Anyway, if my car didn't come with convenience/luxury items that I would want, then I would install them aftermarket. Would the s2k people then get all pissy that I'm adding stuff to my car? who cares!!!! </rant>
