Is the TSX too problamatic?

I am a heartbeat away from owning a TSX and I am starting to get afraid that i should try and back out of the deal after hearing about all the rattle issues and seats moving and whatnot. Any opinions on the issue?

Go visit any website for any vehicle and you'll find lots of complaints about various problems. That is the nature of these sites. People post problems when then need help.

Personally, I've had my TSX for 4,000 miles. I had a minor rattle in the door, and sunroof shae loose. Otherwise, zero problems. QC on the TSX has been as good as any car I've ever owned, at least in the first year.

Dude...I just turned 2000 miles and no problems, no rattles, no headlight condensation, no door gaps, no anything. I think I got a second wave TSX as you will to. If people don't think Honda's fixing things on the line there wrong. This car is awesome and it would be a mistake not to buy one if it's on your short list. Just my opinion, but I do have one. An opinion and a TSX.

What are you shopping the TSX against? I'd be willing to bet that its initial quality would hold up against any of them. Welcome to the site

About 1600 miles now. I have the window rattles like many others, and am waiting for my first oil change (5000 miles) to get it done. Some have reported some sort of water-in-headlights problem. Both easily fixed. Seems to me QC is okay.

Thanks everyone for restoring confidence to my decision to purchase the TSX. I am actually supposed to be picking the car up today. Atleast by checking this site out i am now educated about the possible problems i might have with the TSX. I agree that all cars have their quirks. I actually had a 2001 Audi S4 which is one hell of a car but unforunately the turbos blew up on it with only 9000 miles on it! Thanks again for all your swift responses.

JiggaMan,

Think about this... TSX owners are mostly complaining about buzzies and rattles...RATTLES... caused by, in part, by loud radios. If this is the primary concern among TSX owners, you should be happy and proceed with your purchase.

I've been lurking on the SAAB 9-3 board. I like the 9-3. It has buzzies and rattles too. But people have been complaining about ignition failures, faulty sensors, buggy software issues, and alike. However, warranties cover these problems.

Alternatively, you could purchase a Dodge, Ford, Chevrolet, Kia, Hyundai, or VW and contend with major automovite deficencies.

If problems persist for the TSX, 9-3, or any other car, up to the waranty expiration date, then you have problems.

Jig: Get it (if you haven't already by now).

The stuff you're reading about is minor. It's also coming from a pretty car-savvy group that notices EVERY little detail about a car.

JiggaMan, my opinion is you shouldn't be trying to judge the reliability of the vehicle on the basis of opinions expressed here (or any other online forum). We're just not representative or unbiased enough. I trust all these folks explicitly, but do you really know for sure if any of us actually own a TSX?

Except for floozy, we know he doesn't...

FWIW, I have no initial quality complaints besides the fact that one of the stitches on the leather gear knob cover (the topmost stitch) protrudes slightly more than the others and I can sometimes feel it in the soft part of my palm when shifting. I'm thinking I probably won't bring this up as a warranty issue.

I don't play the stereo loud enough to get any rattles, so if there are any, I don't know it. There isn't enough data on the TSX to make a real reliability judgement, but I'm relying on the Acura reputation (that is, the proven reliability record of previous Acura vehicles) and the anecdotal evidence of my personal experience with other Hondas.

It is quite possible that early TSX models will (do?) have problems that later builds won't. That's a risk I'm willing to take, because I needed a new car now and I don't personally think those issues will amount to anything significant.

I do think there is some element of the K.I.S.S. rule in effect (e.g. if you want a vehicle with all these goodies then there is definitely more that can go wrong. )

That being said, Acura is going to do a better job of quality assurance than most other makers, and the car has an excellent warranty as well.
