TSX manual transmission question

I have an IS300 with a manual transmission. When shifting between gears, I have to let up off the gas as the car rpms stay high (and actually increase a little). I have been driving manual transmissions for 30 years and this is the first car that I have that ever did this. The dealer says that this is normal for modern high-performance cars.

Does the manual TSX's rpms stay high between shifts without applying gas? My other two cars, a Supra TT and a MR2 Turbo do not do this but they are older cars.

Yes, even though I wouldn't consider the TSX a high performance car the rpms do stay the same while shifting.

Yes, it does happen. It was a little annoying on my test drive, but I'm used to it now. It probably has something to do with the drive-by-wire throttle.

Ya , I think its the DBW that does this, and I think the reason has something to do with emissions.

Thanks guys. I guess that the high rpms are something that we have to live with. Hopefully the future drive-by-wire cars will not have this trait.
