TSX: "Lowest True Cost to Own Vehicle under $35,000"

I don't know if this has been posted here before, but I just saw that our TSX has been awarded by Edmunds.com as the "Lowest True Cost to Own Vehicle Under $35,000"! Yes, I am happy

Marketing scheme, there's no way the best sedan under 25,000's a civic.

The convertible picks are even worse -_-;

Did you actually READ what they said. It's lowest cost to OWN. Not best vehicle in its category. Now go back and read the part about how they factor in COST TO OWN.

Let me guess, your one of those "I wouldn't be caught dead in a Civic because it's a low-priced car and everyone has one" people. Although a Civic is a car that alot of people own, it still is a great car. It's a great quality, low cost to own, overall great car. My girlfriend has one, as well as a few other people I know and they are VERY happy with it. It doesn't have all the gadgets that higher model cars have, but it doesn't need them.

You're missing the point. Its not which is best, its which is lowest cost to own.

Ya, some of you people really need to read more carefully.

Anyways, as much as I would like to be happy about this article..I cant help but think it doesnt mean all that much. Considering that the calculation takess into consideration the purchase price of the car, and the fact that the range the TSX is being evaluated in is 25k-35k, its no wonder its the lowest cost. at 26k, its already at the lower en of that range and its no suprises that it has a lower cost of ownership than say, a 34k car.

fdl makes a good point. In every category, the winning car had the lowest possible purchase price for the price range. They should have taken out the purchase price; then this would have meant something.

FDL speaks the TRUF

Edmunds needs to make more categories - 20 to 25k sedan, 25-30k sedan and so on.

Edmund.com's proprietary True Cost to Own(SM) tool CLICK HERE allows consumers to easily estimate the five-year costs of new and used vehicles dating back to the 1999 model year. Ownership costs include depreciation, insurance, financing, taxes, fees, fuel, repairs and maintenance. Users of the tool are able to enter ZIP codes to receive regionalized information, which makes a big difference in areas such as insurance and labor rates for repairs and maintenance services.

"It's always good to know how deep the pool is before jumping in the water; some consumers can afford to buy a car but not to pay the expenses associated with owning it," according to Bob Kurilko, Vice President of Industry Communications for Edmunds.com. "Smart buyers consider the ownership cost profile when making their final vehicle selections, not just the initial purchase price. That way, there are no surprises when the new car smell wears off."
