TSX has a harsh ride?

Well I had a 2006 TSX loaner this weekend (in Arctic Blue Pearl my favorite). I've driven the TSX (it was an '04) but having it for 3 days I really got to enjoy this car. Review after review says it has a firm or even a harsh ride especially over potholes. If anything, the body is so stiff that I can't detect any flex. Potholes were soaked up with ease, no rattles and the cornering/steering feel was bliss. I wonder if the reviewers get freak cars or if they're just out to lunch

I like the suspension better than on my '05 TL or '97 TL. The '05 is too firm for my taste (it feels choppy over broken pavement but handling is great), the TSX just absorbed bumps without jolting the passenger cabin. My '97 has a nice suspension, but the body feels like a shoebox with the lid taken off in comparison. Pot holes disturb the steering quite a bit.

Just wondering if I'm alone in my views or not.

Cliff notes: TSX felt sporty and luxurious, not harsh. Body is more solid than Fort Knox. Puts my '97 TL to shame. TL engineers could learn a thing or two.

Affirmative. Operation TSX is complete

Haha, jk, Sometimes I feel I can go with a higher spring rate (Tein Basics on its way)

Two very different purposes. The TL is much more of a cruiser than the TSX and is definitely more geared towards the tastes of the average American.

Depending on the reviewer, most reviewers basically sit behind a desk. Most haven't even sat in the car they are reviewing. So it's hard for a lot of them to make accurate depictions. They can only go off of what they read and the specs.

The TSX's ride definitely isn't harsh, but if you're coming from a softer riding car, it may take some getting used to. I'm used to it now and love the way it feels, solid and planted. Anybody who says the ride is harsh hasn't driven in a sports car.

I think it hits the bump stops more quickly (shorter suspension travel). But it is not harsh. I wouldn't say it "wafts" but it cruises pretty well on the smaller bumps or shallower ruts, but the bigger road imperfections can be felt...

Maybe it was so new, the suspension hasn't settled yet?

The first week I had my TSX, I ended up going down a rough road. The ride was so harsh...it felt exactly the same way my accord did right after I lowered it.

Now I don't feel the road as much anymore...it's a tad bit less harsh than before

I feel its a nice ride, my friend with his audi and sport suspension says my car rides diffent and with aspecs he loves it.

His car does make alot noise fro the road now from the stiffer springs.

Reviewers have the privelage of driving cars we only dream about, so when they get into a sub $30k car they will find more problems than the average buyer. The TSX does have short travel which can be annoying over deep bumps, but for the most point it does a good job at being comfortable while maintaining a sportier handling.

I don't have a problem with the ride in my TSX (stock suspension). Afterall, it isn't meant to be a Camry or anything.

While they sometimes annoy me like hell, they do have to cope with trying out many different cars, humanely have their own opinions and biases, and all have very different perceptions depending on their age and backgrounds. What's worst is they need to whip out a complete review with generally less than 100 miles of road test maybe even just a small track tryout.

Of course, it's not surprising then that they would so metimes produce a review way out in the leftfield. Still, the TSX gets pretty favorable reviews.

It's pretty obvious that we, with thousands of miles of driving experience with the TSX would see things differently.

Well, I kind of agree that the stock suspension on my TSX is a bit harsh. When compare the stock suspension of my TSX over my bimmer sport suspension, I was very dissapointed. Since I drove both of them side by side everyday so my butt (and my wife butt also) told us stock TSX suspension sucks! But after putting a-spec suspension on, my TSX totally tie the ride quality with my bimmer and then after the RSB, tower bar & summer tire, it tie the handling with my bimmer and even have less body roll too. So I always think Honda should put the a-spec suspension become standard in order to get better review. It just no trade off at all!

I guess 'harsh' is all relative. For instance, I wouldn't sip coffee in either a TL or TSX, but would gladly do so in an MB S-class or Lexus LS.

Sport comes at a price, IMO. Especially under 40k.

I know its semantics but I would call the TSX ride "firm" but not "harsh". The A-spec is somewhat firmer than stock but I still can't bring myself to calling it harsh.

i agree, firm is a better word to describe the ride, it's certainly not harsh.
