TSX #9 out of the Top 10 Road Trip Vehicles

http://netscape.edmunds.com/reviews/...3/article.html

Acura TSX: Well, we can't all afford a Mercedes-Benz but many of us would sure like to enjoy the quality and comfort of such a car. And what better way to enjoy the open road without breaking the bank than in an awesome but affordable sport sedan. A beautiful interior and incredible handling make the TSX an excellent companion on a long journey and its frugal four-cylinder power plant will save you time and money at the pump.

I love the TSX on long drives. I often get out of it more relaxed than when I got in. Can't wait to really take it on a true road trip.

What the hell kind of list is that? I'm glad we beat the Malibu but it's a little surprising that the Sienna beat the Maybach 62.

The Maybach makes a good road trip car only if you can afford the chaffuer.

Unless you're that kid who got the BMW dealer to deliver him a 760iL without paying for it.

Rear leg room in the Element rivals some extended wheelbase uber-luxury sedans. And they recline too. So they're not too comfortable to sit in for the long haul - seats are a little low to the ground, and the legroom I speak of is required as your legs are pretty much splayed out if you're tall - but you can lean back and enjoy the ride in other ways.

I just got back from a road trip to florida (from philly) on sunday, and I was very impressed how nice it was to take on that trip. As stated before the 30 mpg was excellent, and it was just soo nice to ride in (not even gonna mention how helpful the gps was!).

I took my RSX-S on the same trip last year and by the end of it I could not wait to get out of the car... this year I was ready for another 16 hours!

Not surprised by this article one bit.

By looking at the list the way i read the desciption its 10 cars we would like to have for road trips, not the 10 best in order...

There's a lot more difference between an A4 and S4 than just power, but granted, it is a nice car for highway, as long as you don't have electrical problems. Then it can just become hell.

I've done many long distance road trips in the TSX already, my last one dating back to Sunday when I drove down to Toronto and back for a total of 1250km. And like always, I arrived home as fresh as when I left. The TSX adds no other fatigue then what a normal day will do. It really is an extremely pleasant car for driving, and there are many reasons for that:
-Good comfort: seats, leg and head room
-Good climate control, dual is a blessing
-Good soundsystem
-Excellent mileage
-Near-perfect top gear (6th) for using cruise control.
-Good power package, though not outrageous.
-Excellent aerodynamics helps a lot with the handling in windy conditions.

And I'm sure y'all could add to the list.

Putting the Ford Explorer/Mercury Mounaineer ahead of the TSX IMO is an insult to anyone's intelligence. This car you have to keep fighting with to keep on the road. I don't see myself being able to cover the quarter of the distance in all comfort that I can cover with the TSX just because it is such a pig.

That can be said of just about any SUV.

The TSX definitely is great on long trips. I drove from Blacksburg to Cleveland without stopping once (6 hrs), and I wasn't the least bit fatigued. Plus it was nice that the trip only cost $25 in gas and I didn't have to stop to refuel. A few things that would make the TSX better on long trips though:

A radio that lets you hear radio stations more than 100ft from their transmission station.

A lower fan blowing rate on the climate control. I find that even the lowest fan speed is still a little too much sometimes. You can switch it to floor blowing only, but I drive barefoot so I don't like that.

The rattles are unbearable on rough highways. My fellow passengers made a comment about how it sounded like the car was about to collapse. Embarrassing in a car that's less than a year old from a brand that considers itself a 'luxury' marquee.

I agree with Sauce though: the 6th gear ratio is so perfect for highway cruising. I find myself never even touching the brake or accelerator on highway trips, just modulating speed with the steering wheel controls. Nothing like accelerating right up a 5% grade with the AC on, 2 passengers, and a trunk full of luggage without even thinking to downshift, and averaging 32 MPG while you are at it. Name another car that can do that.

The TSX is adequate to good for long trips IMHO. The seats are comfortable and the wind noise is muted, but I honestly prefer a cushier suspension and quieter tires for longer rides (not overall, just for the longer hauls). I do like the acceleration at speed a lot!

This list seems pretty arbitrary to me

Aren't you the same guys who complain that 6th gear isn't tall enough for good fuel economy??

wtf - I agree with the obnoxious Philadelphian - arbitrary - they might as well add the H2 to the list

I am very content with the TSX for long trips! Comfortable, but not too soft that you feel like falling asleep.

Sauce is the one that gets like 36 MPG with the 6th ratio the way it is, so I doubt he has ever complained. Personally, I have always said I liked the 6th gear ratio, it's 1 and 2 I dont like.

Out of all those vehicles only the Maybach and TSX I agree with. The rest are just ridiculous. I'm writing a strongly-worded letter to them...

Not me. I am actually one of those who affirmed the contrary to those who complained and used my gas mileage record to back it up.
