I average about 250-270 miles on a full tank. I redline my car either? I do alot of driving in the city so that might be the reason.

04/05 have to get to it on their navi...

06 gets it on the MID, which is between the tachometer and speedometer

Maybe someday I'll join this club, but it's only possible on long road trips (which is kinda cheating I think as it doesn't reflect daily usage).

Gotcha, I knew about the MID one, but never found one on the Navi.

I totally forgot about this thread.

Earlier this month, I went to Vegas for a business trip. I filled up just before I left, and I only used 1 tank of gas for the whole trip. I remember the info on the navi said 499.7 miles traveled with just under 10 miles to go. I know it wasn't quite 500 miles yet, but the closest gas station near my house was about 1.5 miles away and it was located conveniently between my freeway offramp and my house. So I had to fill it.

Tank Size

I've never gotten even close to 18 gallons. The car was telling me it had 12 miles left in the tank yesterday and I filled it up only to about 13.5. Am I just not being daring enough?

Officially, the tank is 17.1 gallons. You can get more than that in if you fill up the fill tube as well. The Navi LIES!!!

Didn't I read in another thread that filling up to the tube is actually not good for the fuel system? Something about the tank requiring expansion space for vaporized fuel?

^^^It's not good to do it. Speeding is bad as well.

BTW vwong- 499.7miles puts you on your actual 500th mile so you're well within the required mileage. 498.7= No Soup For You!!! Drive around the block one more time or you can’t join the club!!!

Thumbs up Easter 500+ Mile Trip

CLICK for larger picture. Details: Easter 2007 - North Carolina to just north of Atlanta via I-85. Little traffic Good Friday afternoon and light traffic on way home Easter Sunday. Most driving was at 70-75 mph. I note that one poster has already exceeded 600 miles on a tank which I thought might be possible. In my case note that the trip miles (542) plus the range remaining (37) equals 579 miles, if you divide this by the 33.7 mpg you get 17.2 gal.. the approx. capacity of the tank. The wife was with me plus luggage.. man I love this car!

Joined the club today. Drove home to providence, RI from about an hour north of the Albany, NY area, plus some trips to boston. Didn't have the A/C on for most of the travel as I tended to be travelling at night or early morning so the vents provided plenty of cool air.

Hit 504.1 miles at 34.5 mpg. I doubt that will happen again for a while as it is too warm to drive without A/C anymore

i don't think the A/C on would really affect the mpg drastically... there should be a study done on top of the A/C vs Windows down.. with A/C vs no A/C... anyone?

I just got my car and am shocked that I don't get very good gas mileage. Is there something wrong with my car??? I have filled up with 76 once and at Chevron. I only get about 300 to the tank with about half of it on the freeway and less than 270 with 30% on the freeways. I use premium every time. Any thoughts???

There was a general study done on that years ago that i had read that basically said if you have an older car, its more fuel efficient to run with the windows down and HVAC off whereas with newer cars, its the opposite. HVAC units have gotten so much better that it is now more fuel efficient to run with the windows up and HVAC on because the drag of having the windows down creates can worsen gas mileage. I think the year that they said was the area in which the swtich occured was somewhere inbetween 1996-1998.

That is of course in the case where you are actually working to stay cool.... as the temperatures that I have been driving in were already comfortable, I didn't use the A/C at all. The most efficient way is with the windows up and the A/C off.

Turning the A/C off seems to make a difference to me. I normally drive 75-80 with the A/C on and get about 29mpg... with the A/C off at the same speed I was getting about 34-35 mpg.

BTW, the TSX getting older, the engine is getting better and better at mpg game. Hopefully I could whip out something this summer.

The car still willingly drives up to 230kph as well.

I hit 500 and change almost twice this weekend. I was well into the 500s on my trip out to Indy and easily would have been there again on the way back but I filled up with a quarter tank showing on the meter since it was convenient. I think I was at around 430 when I filled up the second time. It's pretty easy to do if you keep your speed below 75 mph most of the time.
