TSX 05 vs 06

Is there really a big difference?

I mean, I've been hearing that the 05 looks a lil better(sportier).

but that the 06 has more features such as AUX, Bluetooth, memory seats etc...which really I just need the AUX Input, and I can just buy a gron kit for the 05?

Other then that, any big difference? Such as which is more expensive to maintain..or better on fuel efficiency and that sort.

(Also I'm planning to add mods in the future)

which one has more miles?

if I were buying a 7-10 year old car; I would ALWAYS always go for the newer one; whether it be in miles or in time.

so, the 06 gets my vote. its newer and has more updated features.
unless the 05 has less miles on her.

but both are the same car.
so, one isnt going to be more expensive to maintain over the other. same thing with fuel. its the same car, it will drink the same amount of fuel.

actually; the newer car (whether it be in miles or time) will be the least to maintain.

only thing thats making me pull back from getting a tsx is the infiniti g35 05-06, Ive read there pretty reliable too, plus they look sportier/nicer..and MORE AFFORDABLE. only thing is, the mpg is averaged at 20-22 mpg, while tsx is 24-26 mpg

A few additions to the list of changes in 06: Fog lights, new MID, (informational display), new headlights and tail lights, side skirts,(almost like the Aspec style skirts.) ...and most importantly: A boost in horsepower.

It gained 13 HP, according to Acura & Road & Track magazine. http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-revi...2006-acura-tsx

in 07, TPMS was added, (as nj2pa2nc mentioned above). That's it.

lol gas mileage with an older G35 is gonna be worse than advertised!!!!!
if you're looking at G35's, why not look at TL's?

I happen to think the TL's are MORE sporty looking than the G35's.
The 04-05 G's look outdated!!!!!!!!
the 06 G is when it got a body refresh.

plus, Some of the VQ engine in the G35 likes to burn oil.

I have an '06 TL 6speed Manual transmission.
I smash on G35's ALL DAY!!!
not to mention, my interior is loads better.

with the bigger engine than the TSX, I average about 23-24mpg.

I was averaging 27.4 mpg in my TL (six speed), but I still prefer the TSX over the TL. Even though the TL had an A-Spec suspension, the TSX handles better, and the clutch isn't as ackward on the TSX. All that said, the extra 13hp that comes with the 06+ is quite noticeable, and is worth the extra cost.

My wife has a co-worker that got a 05 G35 at the same time we purchased our 06 TSX. He is always commenting on how our TSX has held up better than his Infiniti as far as styling, ride, reliability, and interior. He has taken his G35 to the shop a lot more times because of rattles, electronic gremlins, check engine lights, etc... The TSX seems to average about 25-27 mpg combined during my commute while he seems to get around 19-20 mpg on a similar route in the G35.

He was leaning toward a TSX or TL during time of purchase; but, his wife talked him into the G35 because she though Acura was just a fancy more expensive Honda (which they are). Acura seems to have more neutral styling that looks so understated when new, blends in with the crowd during mid-cycle, and looks progressive and ahead of their time when older. Acura/Honda makes the most reliable and best looking used cars.

And an Infiniti is a fancy more expensive Nissan, and Acura/Honda did have good reliable vehicles but they cant seem to make a good transmission, the Accords, pilots, Odyssey's and TL's just to name a few were ones that transmissions are the weak points, the TSX was one of them that had good solid auto transmissions but thats if your looking for an auto, otherwise there all great vehicles, but good luch which ever one you go with.

I could never figure out why Acura/Honda has problems with their auto tranny? It seems to be the same basic front wheel drive AT used in every model from the civic to Ridgeline to RL with minor changes for power, towing, and/or awd in the last +10 years. My TSX 5AT started slipping about 80,000 miles and an oil change stopped it (for now). I also change my 5AT oil every 30,000 miles to help prevent this problem. I think the Acura/Honda should outsource to the ZF 8-speed AT and they should be good to go for about 10-12 years.

I've had various AT Honda's over the years and by far the worst was the Oddsy because of the tranny (the V6 was great though - no problems what so ever). From the various forums that I've read, the conclusion is that the issue seems to be the V6 - the tranny isn't designed correctly to handle it. There are various theories why - not sure if its the torque, overall weight, or the increased heat generated because of it (heat is a tranny killer), but in any case, the Oddsy I had consumed/destroyed 3 trannies. Honda covered each one (except the last one which cost me $500), and each time they replaced with a rebuilt Honda tranny - same design, no fixes to resolve the tranny consumption. I was not impressed and would not (and will *not*) buy a Honda with a V6. Yes, Honda covered it, but until they can prove to me they've fixed the tranny issue, I'm steering clear of those - I'll keep to the 4 bangers. I'm not saying Honda trannies with 4 cylc don't ever have tranny problems, but they seem to be a lot less frequently reported/bitched about than the V6 in the forums. Hopefully your tranny will behave itself.
