Exclamation Trip computer problem

Situation:

Filled up the gas tank with the engine on. (forgot to switch it off)

Nav trip computer did not recognize the fill up and kept on counting down. I reset it manually on the touchscreen, but now I just have "---" for the Range number. The MPG and elapsed time counters are working as normal.

Anyone know how to fix this problem? Or will it go away after a normal refill?

Thanks.

Try resetting it with the car off. Just battery on.

I don't always shut off my car and it has always recongnized a refuel. Do you have the reset with refuel option turned on? If so, then maybe it was it a partial fill?

Holy crap! Don't fill your cars with the engine running!

Shit and people are worried about cell phones causing fires at gas pumps.

yeah. refuel with car on is actually illegal in many (if not all) states. the worst thing you can do is put the fuel nozzel in and lock into place, get in your car, wait for fuel to stop, get out of car and touch the nozzel. There is a good chance that you have built up a static charge by getting in/out the car. Always touch pump first with your bare hand to discharge. Or touch your car away from the nozzel. This way if you had a static charge, it would be released by this action and you can safely handle the pump. Either that or don't get in/out of car once you begin refueling.
