Is there any truth to the rumor that Acura is extending the warranty on the TSX transmission because they could fail under normal use?

I hope this isn't like the TL or 2002-series Accord transmission problems, where they only fix the transmission AFTER something has gone wrong, and might have led to an accident.

 

Haven't heard of any issues. Can you cite the source of your rumor?

Just did a search through all of Acura's databases on recalls, service bulletins, service news, and this is what I came up with:

No Information found for TSX, 2004

Nothing on this end to support that claim.

 

I agree that there is no support for this claim. As an owner, don't you think a notification would be sent especially if a company like Acura is going to EXTEND a warranty period? I would think so.

 

There is a thread over at clubtsx.com about this, under the heading "Recall?". One of the posters said he received a letter in the mail.

The original post was about the Japanese Accord Saloon. I couldn't tell whether it affected the TSX or not.

 

Wow. The car just came out 4 months ago. Think logically... Are they going to start recalling (or giving out warrantys) transmissions with no more than 5 k on them? This is rumor (and a very bad one at that) until Acura sends out a confirmation.

Acura has a warranty extension for the TL and CL but not the TSX. There is no know problem with the trannys in the TSX.
