Tranny Fluid change interval???

as we all know in certain areas of the USA, the factory recommended service scheduled items can be a bit different.

today i went to my local acura dealership (Tischer Acura, Laurel, MD) to get some work done and I asked the service advisor to print me a list of things they do for the 30k service since i'm 1k away from 30k. I was surprised to see that changing automatic tranny fluid was not on the list; i didn't ask him why it was not on the list cuz the guy didn't know jack sh*t and i didn't want to hear any bullsh*t....

I was always accustomed on changing the tranny fluid at 25-30k intervals with my accord.

just wondering when people with automatic tranny's have changed their fluid?

Well, considering that the oil change interval is 10,000 miles, maybe the oil in the tranny has a similar type of longevity?

ok, just pulled out the owner's manual, and it states for Severe Driving conditions that the auto tranny fluid should be changed at 60,000 miles or 3yrs, then every 30,000 miles or 2 years.

auto mechanics i've spoken to state to replace every 30K regardless of what the service dept. says...

what do you guys think?

If it would make you feel more comfortable, then just go ahead and change it. It can't hurt it.

Though it's nice to know that on my leased car, I don't have to change the tranny fluid.

That's strange, the answer in class to that question was 50K miles under normal conditions.

[EDIT]Never mind, I remember... it was if the manufactor states 100K for their set of conditions, then under our real world driving conditions, 50K is adequate, as long as no towing or harsh accelerations are in your daily drive.
___

Police Crusiers, ambulances, etc = 20K

That may not be a bad idea especially for the sportshift trannys. I have a sportshift tranny in my '99 Prelude and I change the fluid every 15K. Honda has a bad reputation for the sportshift trannys not lasting long. In these trannys the solenoid screens get clogged easily which can cause rpemature failure. If I had a TSX with an auto I certainly would change it @ 15K intervals. Just MHO.
