traded in TSX

My '04 6MT (full body kit) with 69700 miles was retired and replaced with a '06 RL non-tech package. Bought on Sat. Sept. 30. List was 49,900; got it and wheel locks, spalsh guards, iPod connection, trunk tray, nose mask and tint for $42300 OTD. I could not pass this up. Black with parchment interior. Will post pics soon. I'll be checking back guys and lovely gals. Great brotherhood we have here.

Excellent choice... My wife and I were considering the same thing as the RL's are going for great bargains nowadays --- especially before Acura comes out with the "stripped down" version for next year...

I actually had no intention of trading up to the RL until my salesman approached me while I was getting wife's RSX-S serviced. I was blindsides by a great offer. What's a guy to do? The RL is truly an amazing piece of machinery for the $$$$

I like the RL, good deal for it too, the ultimate Acura right now.

The only bad things about the RL is that it's missing something whenever I see one on the road vs. the 5 series, M series, or the GS series. It doesn't have the wow styling or the V8, but it has everything else.

RL is a great car at a great price, but I can't help but think if i was spending that much on a car, I'd have to go with a BMW or Infinity (or splurge on the lexus) over the RL. I guess we'll see where the RL is by the time I'm at that point.

Congrats on the deal though!

im sure the RL is a great car but not at that price. It doesnt seem to be a head turner . Everytime I see one its like seeing another TSX or TL. Now with a M45,5 series, gs350, I stare at it from the headlights to the tail lights whenever it pass me

That's a great deal.

You did what I've thought of doing for almost a year now. Although BMW & MB definately have more "bling," the RL is a great car.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did your payments go up? I'm "just curious".....

I acually got my '04 TSX on may 5, 2003. So, I had it for approx. 40 months. I got 15500 for the trade-in towards the RL. My RL payments are approx. $250 moret han the TSX but a shorter term and I put down about $9000 when I bought the TSX. On the RL I put down the equity in my TSX (approx. $5200) + $3000 cash. The RL may not be a head turner BUT if you get an equally equiped M45 or BMW 5 you will spend about $10000 more. I have been in the Honda family since 1992 and find it difficult to leave.

My daily RT commute is 75 miles.

Congrats on the purchase, I've always liked the interior upgrades on the RL and wish it would filter down to the TL and TSX. Any mods scheduled for the new whip?

you're right. it seems at any comparison (TSX, TL or RL), the comparable cars are about 10k more. I think you've got a great car, i'm just on the side of if i was paying that much, i wouldn't mind spending 10k more i think. But a deal like that, hard to pass up. I would want the technology package though. XM Traffic!

Dive the infinity and th3 BMW and you will come back to the RL. I did and the RL is BETTER overall. I can tell you have not driven either.

unfortunately you are incorrect. the infinity M is one of my favorites, but the BMW 5 series wins by a landslide for me. The RL is a great vehicle, but if i was already in that price range, i'm assuming i could spring for the other vehicles.

While i love the Honda company, the primary reason why I'm in a TSX and not a 3-series at this point in my life (besides the obvious reliability issues) is that the TSX is a price point where we can afford it, but it's a slight overspend for us, but since we get so much car for the money, that's not a problem. the TL and the RL are beyond that point, so when we can afford that, we'll be able to afford the others as well (i'm assuming). Doesn't mean that the RL is not a GREAT value for the car that it is, just means that my opinion and yours is different.

I've seen 04 RLs with low miles going for around 20K - it has to be one of the worst Honda derived vehicles in terms of resale (from MSRP).

If I didn't care about the AT, I'd seriously look at a used RL.

Ah, so the 42500 was after all the down payments? How much was the car itself?

no I think he meant the car was 42,300 then he put $8200 down on it (5200 trade equity plus 3000 cash.) total financed $34,100...

As expected the TSX is sportier but we are talking about 2 completely different cars. The ride comfort is the best I have ever experienced. I was getting tired of rowing the gears in Houston traffic so the auto tranny is a nice fix for that. I do like the paddle shifters on the steering wheel when the tranny is in manumatic mode. Also, the quality f the leather is a step up. The sound sytem is damn good for OEM - 10 speaker, 8 ch amp. Not overly loud but very clean, clear (even though it is Bose). 10" sub in rear deck, 2 6.5 mids in rear deck, 6.5 mids in each door and tweeters in front dash. This is my first expereince with voice activated navigation and XM radio (first year paid by Acura). Still breaking in so I can't comment on the performance (290 HP & 252 lb-ft torque). A wonderful car, but so was the TSX. Nothing bad to say about the TSX. I still have my wife's '04 RSX-S to fulfill my spirited driving needs.

congrats... nice upgrade indeed

as much as I love acuras, for that price range, i'd consider the gs350

but then of course the RL is acura's flagship sedan, and the GS is not the top of the line model in the lexus lineup
