Traded in my 06 TSX..

Hi all -

I had the TSX for about 3+ years, it was loaded w/ nav and had 17" A-Spec rims. I just put new Eagle GT 235/45 R17 tires last spring (with rim protectors!). It was a great car, very reliable. It got good looks with the rims as well. Always felt like i had one of the nicer rides on the road, always.

Two weeks ago I traded in the TSX for a 09 Cadillac CTS 3.6DI AWD. Obviously a major difference (and upgrade). The CTS is load with nav, glass roof, 18" Vogue C7 rims and tires, and the 5.1 Bose Audio w/ 40gig HDD.

This is a very nice car - smooth but sporting ride (FE1 suspension). Great power with the direct injection engine. Pulls very hard to the 6500 redline and some sweet - almost exotic - sounds from the engine bay. Exhaust note is also very nice. The manumatic is somewhat different - the manual is to the right side of auto instead of left, like the TSX, a little getting used to but not a major issue. This feels quicker than my co-workers 07 TL Type-S.

The interior of the CTS is, not surprisingly, a step above the TSX (and most other cars on the road, IMO). The waterfall dash and the top, french stiched, leather dash cover really set it off. Mine has titanium (light grey) full leather seats - this with the top black lether dash give a very upscale two-tone look. I also opted not to have the wood, but went with the carbon fiber trim - again very nice. Overall, the entire interior is spectacular. The sound system and nav are excellent as well. it has 5.1 audio - similar the TL, but with a DVD video option (only while in 'park'). i've been playing the Eagles (live at Melbourne) DVD over and over and over - and sometimes will put the car in park at a long stoplight to watch the video (!). The nav system rises from the center of the dash - wow. It has real time traffic and accident visual cues on the nav display via XM. One excellent feature is the 3D landscape view - which in my experience in other vehicles has been more style over function. Not this one, 3D view is the preferred viewing method, and will even show landmarks and buildings in metro areas (Chicago). Also, Cadillac worked with Apple to integrate the Ipod/Iphone users like me; a proprietary USB/minijack cord comes with the CTS and plugs into the center console, like the TSX. When plugged in, all ipod info appears on the nav screen and also allows for full song/favorite/etc list selection via the nav screen. I'm a big ipod user, so this is a welcomed feature.

The body syle of the CTS is also dramatic, a definite upgrade over the 1st gen CTS. I find it to have a pleasing aggresive and muscular appearance. Just a beautiful car, inside and out.

Anyhow, it has been nice owning the TSX and also having a resource like the Acurazine community - i've already joined the CTS forum, but it not as comprehensive as the Acura forums although it has given me useful tips. I've included pics of my TSX and the CTS....take care all!

Verynice car and a beaut too. CTS would be my choice for a domestic car. V6 or V8? Your kids are photo hams. Now, take a drive to the Billy Goat Tavern below Michigan Ave and order some cheezborgers, with fries and coke.

Thanks..

The CTS has a twin cam 3.6L direct injection V6, and is rated at 304bhp/271lbf torque. The torque curve feels flat, although the car really takes off above 4K rpm.

For a description on direct injection technology, here's a link:

The Caddy CTS is also my 1st choice for domestic car. The CTS-V has to be the hottest bang for the buck need for speed sedan around. I miss that new car smell.

What made you decide on the CTS over cars like the G37 AWD or TL SH-AWD? The TL's new styling and slower performance numbers moved the car lower on my list.

Congrats and many miles of safe driving. I am planning to buy a new car in March/April 2010. My tsx has 90,000+problem free miles. As much as I love it I want a new car. It has to have 6MT, 4 doors and nav/tech.

I never considered the TL - not a big fan of the new exterior styling. The G37 is a nice ride and has better performance numbers. However, i do see plenty of these on the road. In the end, it came down to personal preference: The CTS is a stunner in my book, the interior also rates higher over the G37, IMO.

A few years ago my wife and I drove the CTS (obviously an earlier version) during a GM Drivers experience event and I have to say I was impressed with the handleing. One of the best cars we drove that day. We didn't care for the interior but I suspect it is better on the new models. Nice car.
