Under my husband's policy.... he has more driving years experience than me and I have no policy...
Ottawa
Age: 27 - Married
No tickets, but one accident (he got ramed in the ass - 3 or 4 years ago)
No deductible, blah blah
15 % discount
$ 1293/year
Once we get rid off the second car - the insurance company estimated a total of $1486/year.

wow... you guys are all paying under $2000 a year. People tell me that the TSX insurance is more expensive than the 2005 Honda civic's. TSX insurance is suppose to be cheap due to the low theft rating, low claim, and 5 star crash rating.
wclark, you're 16, thats why. But $3800 for a year isn't bad. Are you Secondary or Primary?
I think my case is alot worse than all you guys though. I have two Careless Driving tickets, and I totaled my 03 Subaru WRX last september. I bought a 2005 325Ci after the accident and insurance wanted $14 000 a year for insurance ... than i put it into my father's policy.
Thanks for all the info!

Insurance in TO
Common-Law/30/Primary Driver
1 at-fault?! accident claim 8 years ago of $7,500
No Speeding or Traffic Tickets
Vehicle driven for "pleasure" not to work daily
rate: $1450/year $1000 deductible, incl: full replacement to 2 years in write-off, rental car coverage extension, repair loaner rental, second accident waiver, $2M liability.
***
rate seems quite reasonable to me considering high ticket value of the car and potential theft desirability, and the amount of damage it sustains in rear end collision test + way I've seen people drive downtown. 5 star crash rating refers to occupant protection not damage resistance. Remember costs 75% more than avg. civic.

Get the "best rate" available (it works). Pay them to find out who the company offering the rate is, OR, shop around yourself after getting this number for free.
It's a great system and was only $3.50 off of my actual quote from my broker.
That's another point -- GO WITH AN INSURANCE BROKER. Save money and hassle and they fight for you in case of a claim, not against you.

do you mean the primary driver is your mom's name, or just the policy?? When i was under my mom's policy (me primary driver), i was paying $500 more per year compare to now.
Although i'm paying less now because of the corporate rate

How the heck are you guys paying so little. I checked lots of places and the best I could find was $2100. I have no accidents and only one speeding ticket (which didnt change my rates much).

And I have an accident on my record (which went off July 11/05) So my rate is dropping again come December.
Multicar discount saved me 20% and having the house on their another 5 or 10.

My husband has been with the same insurance company for over 10 years. The policy has house, car and other items insured - so we get discounts. All this time I thought we were getting ripped off -I guess not...

Insurance companies were pulling in multi-BILLION dollar profits last year. So much that it would make you sick.
We pay too much for insurance, regardless if you're a perfect driver, or a 3-time felon with 5 DUI's... too much for insurance. And, ever try to make a LEGITIMATE claim? If you were with them for 1 day or 1 decade, they treat every claim as if it was gonna sink them, and will fight tooth and nail to not pay what you're entitled.
Insurance companies suck and the government isn't doing enough to curb this severe anal raping we're all getting. By mandating that all drivers must have insurance, and then not keeping insurance companies in check with regards to their rates and policies, it like free money (taxes) to the government. BOOOO...
