Torn vinyl on seat...

Hi all. I did a search for this and couldn't come up with what I was looking for.

I've had my TSX for about 3 weeks (2500 miles) now. The other day I peered in the backseat and noticed a tear (cut) in a vinyl portion of the back-passenger side seat. From what I understand, the only leather parts of the seats are the perforated bits. I have no idea how it happened or if it was there when I got the car or what. I have had back-seat passengers maybe 2 or 3 times and never anything else (i.e. groceries or what have you). It looks cut and not like something poked through and it started tearing.

So, my questions are...is it something I can fix myself? Will the tear grow? You think I can get it fixed at Acura through the warranty? Anybody else had the same problem?

Good information is appreciated. Thanks!

Warranty should take care of the defect.

You think they'd consider it a 'defect' and not blame me for it?

yeah warranty will cover that. my dad and i noticed (what i think you are talking about) fine tears in the bottom side bolsters a while ago (i did post about that). we took it in, they replaced it (and also damaged the center console by cutting through it, probably someone slipping when cutting the leather off). Well now he has noticed small, fine black scuff spots in the perforated leather portion of the seat from wear (we have the parchment interior). The dealer said that they would replace it on Friday, but we decided to wait until Monday for the 2nd oil change and leather service at the same time. Because they will again replace it, they tried to use some chemical that actually made it worse, it ate away at the material and there is now a pink spot. This is going to be my 3rd batch of leather for the driver's seat.
