Thank you 2nd Gen Acura TSX redesign team and VP for making my 04 TSX worth so much more than it really is.

It's funny, the "car guys" I know prefer the 1st gens, but the otherwise ignorant auto folk (who think they drive stick with their automatic sportshift units) prefer the 09 TSX. When I mention the new TSX's don't handle as well as their predecessors they just shrug and say it looks cooler.

So FWIW. This is a very small group of people in the grand scale of things, but in my experience the "average consumer" likes the new TSX. (I prefer my 08, but I'm biased... )

Pretty good if you look at the newly released sales figures.

Having sat in a few 09's; I have yet to drive one, it's a darn nice car. I know we like to harp about the added weight and reported numb steering. But I was very impressed looking at the new model.

1. With the driver's seat set for a 6 footer like myself, you can actually still use the back seat for people with legs.

2. The trunk by '04-08 TSX standards is now massive. You could actually put large useful items in this trunk. You could actually fit golf bags back there and not look for room you your backseat for stuff you currently forgot you left in your trunk before picking up your boss for an afternoon of serious office work. Which isn't an issue for the 1st gen car as you likely couldn't put anyone in the back seat anyhow, but the larger trunk is still nice.

3. If you have to purchase an Auto-matic I love the flappy paddle shifters now on the steering wheel like the RDX and TL-S.

And the interior is just plain nice, the theme from the original continues. I think we can rest assured that 2nd gen resale values will also be high down the road.

Because despite what most of us in the forum purchased a TSX for, the largest section of TSX purchases likely go to folks looking or an upscale Accord.

That said maybe a retuned more powerful sport model will show up for the enthusiast down the line, hard to say.

Went to Continental Acura because I visited my friend in Plainfield. My gf test drove the 09 TSX and all the ones on the showroom floor were sold already! The sales guy told my gf and I that they've sold about fifty 2009 TSX's since June. There is a 3 month waiting list. My gf wants one I think now because it's bigger and she loves how it drives. She's going to wait until Nov to buy one because maybe by then there will be more inventory.

Interesting side-note on the article.

Bottom 10 Resale: Chrystler, Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile, Ford, Dodge, Mercury, Cadillac

" ... brand image is still one of the biggest determinants of the resale of a vehicle. "

I like the 2009 over the 1st gen model. It is quieter. It also has a better turning radius. I am in dilema about trading in the 2008 for a 09 tech in the silver colour. I have 9,000 miles on my car (1 year old on August 17th)

turn radius is awesome on the new one, my gf was doing doughnut holes on the new one in the parking lot on the test drive of the 09.

I like the Ist generation more than second. The smaller size and simple design has its own elegance. just like 1997-2003 BMW 5 series looks much better than new one. especially that Blue/Green metallic.
