tires for my tsx
test fited my new wheels trying to find out what will be the best tire size.
I was thinking about for the front 205/40and was thinking 225/40 for the rear.
others are saying 215/40 for the front and 225/40 for the rear
I really don't want a hard stretch but I don't want to squard
18x8 35 offset
18x9 40 offset

First things first, what size are all your new rims? Diameter and width.
A couple of quick figures shows 205/40-17, 205/40-18, and 215/40-18 all are over 3% smaller...only the 215/40-18 would be (just) within the 3% recommendation. In every case, the change will result in a slower accelerating car with worse gas mileage.
A 225/40-18 is the closest size (1.5% too small), but that would be front and rear. Remember, the TSX is front wheel drive, and staggering tires sizes is a foolish act. Regardless, I think you'll find clearance issues.

OK, on an 18", the ideal tire size in 40 profile is 235/40-18...use on a 8-9.5" rim.
Your 205/40-18 is for a 7-8" rim (barely useable) and around 4% too small.
A 225/40-18 is the smallest tire that will fit on a 9" rim.
The best choice is 235/40-18 all around (wide variety of tires in that size, and retains rotatability), but then the question is will they fit.
I suggest checking the Tire master Thread in the Tire Selection/Wheel Size area of the forum. I think you may have trouble with those 9" wide rims.
