Three holes in rear bumper?

I didn't notice when I picked up the car, but a co-worker pointed out 3 quarter to half inch aligned holes in the rear bumper. I was wondering if they served a purpose or did the dealer leave something off during prep? Strange...

They don't show up in most pics I see as they are only a few inches from the bottom of the rear bumper.

In order to see the holes, they are about exactly at the height of the tailpipes, about two inches below the lower tail lights at the bottom of the rear bumper.

I don't recall seeing holes in my bumper, the suggestion for pics is to help us identify the specific area you are referring to.

Members have posted pics of their aftermarket exhaust, can you identify the area from those pics? (left/right side)

Here is a link to a post that shows pics of the lower part of the bumper by the exhaust.

me thinks there's something missing. Just looked at several pics in various galleries and called my dealer's service guys - no evidence the holes are normal. It almost looked like they were drilled from the inside of the bumper out, and are kind of rough edged. Bizarre. I sure as heck didn't do the drilling. Something tells me there should be something attached via these things, like molding. I know, hard to believe I didn't really notice it, but hard to spot unless you kneel down and take a hard look. Will just take it to dealer tomorrow.

It sounds strange to me. I have no idea why there would be any holes at all.

Isn't that where the OEM body kit would bolt on to?
...stock mounting holes for the anticipation of getting an OEM body kit installed...

Mystery solved...kind of

Just dropped by Acura of Boston. Showed the bumper to the service and sales guys, all of whom said "HUH???"

It appears the holes were drilled before the car ever reached the dealer. Something about bumpers are black, then painted, blah blah...and this one had silver paint in the holes. In other words, holes drilled, THEN painted.

A mystery of why....but to be replaced under warranty and paid for by Acura, not the dealer or myself. No one had any clue what they could be for as the holes are not high enough to be some other accessory.

This has got to be one of the weirder QC problems I've ever seen.

Yeah....not normall at all, if you look really close it looks like it was done with a hand drill or something.....I would call it vandalized if the measurments didn't look so even.

Looks to me like someone botched a bumper replacement between the factory and the shipping dock.

wow, that is really weird. who in the world would do that? Is there something they attach for the Euro accords? I dont know if they spray the cars using automated spray arms or such, but Maybe a spray paint "robot arm" going wild?

you should just ask for the oem body kit, it'll cover that up.
