what's the purpose of the red cubby hole right next to the ac adapter thing that says 'this is not an ash tray'. I spilled some car freshener lotion inside it and the red lining came right off. I'm trying to take off the red lining but they glued the darn thing so well that it's impossible to remove. So what do you put in it? what is it for anyway?

Coins? Breath mints? Your guess is as good as mine. Apparently there isn't much that can be done with the space originally designed for an ashtray.

Use more car freshener lotion?

But yeah, "most useless / unobvious space in the car" award goes to that little thing.

I use it for extra quarters and business cards. It pretty much sucks.

Also, its not glued in, its got tabs holding it in from the bottom. That compartment is the #1 pain in the ass to remove of the entire car. You have to remove the storage compartment above it, then the whole center console, just to access 4 screws around it. Then you can try with all your strength and 2 screwdrivers to pop that thing out. Its fun, you can make a weekend of it and get nowhere.

why is it red? I have quartz interior and every time I open the lid there goes that stupid red thing staring at me I don't put my coins in there since there is a coin thingy in the arm rest already.

I use it for the Loonies & Toonies that Honda engineers, in their wisdom, forgot to include slots for in the coin holders on the center console of the Canadian vehicles. I can't remember the last time I saw a parking meter take nickles & dimes, a quarter being the minimum we use around here.

You know there's a business card holder in the car right?
