thinking of driving to vegas...

ok this is kinda spontaneous. my friend is celebrating her 21st bday at vegas this weekend and most everyone is heading up tonight. i do wanna go but since my car hasnt even broken in yet (ive only hit 150 miles so far), should i take my TSX up?

i figure itd be the quickest way to get a quick 700 miles back and forth. go or no go with the TSX?

Highway cruising is not the best way to break in an engine, you want to vary rpm's as much as possible

It'll be fine as long as you don't drive it hard. Drive it with consistency then lenghthen the break-in period to 1000 miles after you get back. :twocent:

you could, but if it were my car, i wouldn't. i'm guessing you'll be taking the 91 to the 15? maybe you can take the 57 to the 210 to the 15. anyway, driving to vegas on a fri night will probably take at least 7 hours, of which 2-3 of them are really slow (damn near bumper to bumper). plus there are a lot of uphill areas where you'll have to higher rev (3-4k) just to keep above 60 or 65mph. not the best way to start off the break-in process. catch a ride with someone.

It depends on how religious you are about breaking it in. When I picked up mine I had a 120 mile drive back home from Palm Springs. I varied my speed and SSed it between 4th and 5th to make sure the engine got to see all the revs up to 3000. It was a PITA and you should have seen the looks I got ("its a new car dude, why aren't you going faster?").

On the other hand, some will tell you "drive it like you stole it, its a Honda". I would heed sleeper's advice.
