I'm a tall guy...so I have my seat cranked all the way to the furthest position. Its not bad..but I wouldve liked it if it could slide back another inch or two..even if it meant there being absolutly no leg room behind me.
Anyways, just out of curiousity I wanted to see how far forward the seat would move...and I did this while sitting in the seat. It just kepy going...and going..and going..I couldnt believe it. My knees were up into my chest...and i had to stop because it would have crushed me. I dont know how much closer it can go..but even at that point it seem ridiclous to me. Who would ever need to be that close? Maybe my frame of reference was wrong because of how I was sitting...but it definetely seemed obsurd.

Why is everyone commenting on me not fitting? I am glad to hear about how well you 6 footers fit into your car but thats not what my post was about Me ... I fit just fine in the TSX!, but ya a couple more inches wouldnt hurt.
Anyways the point of my post was that it seemed like the seat moves extremely close to the steering wheel thats all. I wonder how short you would have to be to need it to be that close? Just an observation.

I am the small guy and I am fine.
Well, I hear u. A lot of ppl complaining Honda's driver seat head room are usually not very good for tall drivers.
I saw a lot of ppl comparing '03 Accord to Mazda6 and they found Mazda6 has more head room for tall drivers even though Accord has generally more passanger room than Mazda6.

Yeah, you might have some point yourself in the first place, but if, by accident, you also say something else, or even just seem to also be saying something else, and if someone feels like talking about that, you're toast.
For example, if someone who sees this post feels like talking about "accidents," that's fair game.

I'm not that tall or short. I'm near the middle at 5' 8". From my point of view, the available seat and steering wheel adjustments seem to gravitate toward accomodating smaller people, aside from the ability to lower the seat height for taller people (or those with long abdomens). I just need to fuss with the settings. I wish there was a way to reset the driver's seat to its default neutral setting and work from there.

I'm 5'5" and the TSX is perfect. My license says i'm 5'4" My mom is 4 11 and she sits so damn close to the stirring wheel, it's ridiculous. The airbag is going to kill her if she ever gets into an accident. Same thing with Grams.

I'm Chinese....I'm also about 5"6 ish...5"7 ish....thereabouts.
My mom is just barely over 5 feet, and when she drives any of the cars, she's just under a foot away from the steering wheel. I think that her car (MPV) has a similar system to the Hondas, where if the driver is too close to the wheel, it won't fire, or it'll fire at a lower speed....I'm not sure. I'm also not sure if Honda's actually have this feature, or if I was just dreaming about it (I know that they have all sorts of sensors for side and passenger airbags).
Mom has to sit so close because her legs are fairly short (and she can't reach the pedals unless she's that far forward). I think that issue is starting to be resolved by the adoption of telescoping steering wheels and power pedals in many cars.
She's driven my car (an EL) a few times, and she seems to be able to get a more comfortable driving position (further away from the wheel), as compared to in the MPV and my dad's Maxima (the Maxima's the worst, though).
I figure the MPV and Maxima, basically being designed for North American bodies, don't really work for people with smaller frames--the geometry is just wrong.

Ya, I'm 5'11" and old-country Chinese. My wife, however, is 5'2" and weighs about 100 pounds wet. When she drives her Sentra, her seat is all the way up to the front. I had her drive my old '92 Accord once, the seat didn't go forward far enough and she looked comically small in the wide Accord seats. On a related note, when she sat in a 2003 Civic Si on a recent test drive, she had about 3 inches on either side before hitting the seat bolsters. Man those were nice seats. What ever car she is going to get next (and it will not be another Sentra), it's going to have to fit her *AND* my 200-pound lard @ss. I pitty car designers.
