Test drove a TSX and have a clutch question
Hello everyone,
Great site. I have spent the past 4 hrs reading a bunch of posts and learning a lot. The more I read, the more excited I get about my up coming purchase.
Anyways, I test drove a 2004 with 193,000KM (120,000 miles). The car drove great but I noticed right away that the clutch was right to the floor and engaged and disengaged right at the floor. There was not much play in it and it was sort or hard/springy to depress. During my test drive the clutch did not slip and the gears did not grind at all.
I have owned a 2001 integra and 2001 prelude. I sold both with around 200,000km and never felt a clutch like that.
Any ideas? Does the clutch need to be replaced?
Thanks to all who reply.

Sorry to offer the non-expert opinion, but that does not sound right to me. If you can put up wtih the dealership nonsense, you could always find another 04-06 TSX at a dealership and test drive it for comparison. You can also call a dealership and ask, but they are hardly an unbiased opinion. But they may give you some square advice.
