Taking note of license plate

I've noticed on a number of occasions people taking note of my license plate. Today, I even saw someone taking a picture of my car (the guy was behind me) with his cell phone. I was stuck in traffic on the I-5, like everyone else, so it didn't make any sense for someone to do that. It's not like I was speeding...

What gives?

wut they gonna say? that you were speeding or reckless driving? its heresay, it won't hold up in court. I've watched enough Judge TV shows to know that. Because you can turn around and say the guy just tried to run over someone....haha.

anyways, wouldn't worry about it too much, there isn't a law against taking pics in public...

if they had witnessed it, it's not hearsay.....no matter how much Judge Judy or Law and Order you watch. Especiallly if there were other witnesses in the area.

And to slo007....don't sweat it. Maybe they just really like your car!

My first question is, do you have a custom license plate? And is your car modified?

i know someone who worked somewhere that gave him access to files. Give him a plate number, and he can find your address. Maybe he's just scoping out possible targets ;-)

Maybe you squeezed in and cut him off. Maybe he might write a letter and complain that your car is too smokey, thus having the authorities request a smog check. (Yes, this one has happened to a family member before...funny thing is that the car had been recently smogged, and it passed with flying colors.)

I've only taken two pictures of other cars. One was of an accord (same year as one of my accords)...it had something on the side door that I had never seen on any accord before, and wanted to see if i could look for it later and see if it was some sort of oversea accessory. The second was of a that looked brand new, sported a Honda "H" emblem, and looked like no honda I had ever seen before (or seen since). Maybe it was some sort of prototype lol.

By the way...my bad...I was actually using the search feature to look for things...and when you open a ton of windows, it's easy to lose track of which windows are the recent posts lol. I guess I should stop doing searches lol

Anyone stop and consider that maybe you just being parronoid, I mean the guy could be sending text msgs or something and just held the phone up in a manner that apeared as he was taking a picture. Texting is quite popular you know.

I have a temp license plate for myself and will keep it as long as I can (until it expires) I wonder though, if it's possible to extend it

In Florida a temp plate can be extended. I think for 60 days. I have a custom plate and people will point at it.

In Ohio, you can get it extended, but they charge you and you get a new temp plate.

Can't complain, we pay very little in comparison to CA. Custom plates are extra and it is charged every year along with registration. I know in VA it doesn't cost anything extra.

Oh yeah, Ohio just said "f it" to emissions checks this year too.

mine expires in 1.5 months..., I knew a guy who leased a new car in CA brought it to WA and was driving with the temp license plate for over a year... forgot to ask him how did he manage that...

unless you caused an accident (whether you were involved or not), they can't do anything to you. Most likely, unless there was an accident, the cops won't even investigate.

Think of this scenario...someone at work doesnt' like you. They know your route to work everyday. They take your license plate and "anonymously" report you to the cops as speeding and almost causing an accident on that route during the time you would have been on that road.

If there was no accident, they have NOTHING against you except some other pissed off motorist. If there was an accident, it would be a different scenario because there would be something supporting the supposed witnesses "claim".

So unless you caused an accident that you weren't aware of, i wouldn't be too worried. I'm sure the cops deal with these "claims" by pissed off motorists all the time.

... or maybe the guy was doing you a favor... he was taking pic of your plate, so his buddy at DMV could get your phone number on file and that number he would give to his HOT sister

In Fl you pay extra for a customer plate the year you buy it, then it's regular fee every year after.
