I've seen people took off their front plates, not in Florida of course since it's not necessary here. But i used to live in Chicago and they left the plates inside the dashboard, i'm not sure if that works or will get you out of a ticket or not though.

I haven't run a front plate in nearly 3 years. I stopped running it on my 04 not long after I got it and I haven't run it on my 06 since day 1. I think the car just looks so much nicer without it.

If I lived in New Jersey I would have one (its required). I currently live in Delaware(I do not even know if I can get a front plate) so no front plate for me.

If you don't have a front plate in a state that requires it, you may be able to get away without it for a while, but if you get pulled over for something else, you may expect a cop to start going after any fine he can on your car.

sf too eh? yeah the cool factor's there, but watch out though they can ticket you even if you are parked. few years ago when i was still driving my bb6, i had the front plate on the dash. after i came back from eating, stupid dpt gave me a ticket for "placement of front plate" with no fix-it option for $45.

I agree that it looks so much better without the front plate......but in NYC, its a $55 ticket. Got one while I was parked, without any other violation. (meter not expired, parking legally)

I've already gotten 1 ticket for parking on the street without the front plate, but I figure it's just the cost of doing things my way. One $40 ticket in 3 years is not bad. Plus, I generally park in private parking lots or structures that meter maids don't ticket in so that generally side-steps the issue.

i had mine taken off when the car was registered in Georgia (only issues one plate for the rear) then when i re-registered it in VA i had to put it on. I just dont want the hassle of a cop pulling me over. They both look fine IMO... one benefit u get from having front plates is that when parked on a parellel parking space people can tap ur plate and frame instead of ur bumper. This has happened to me in DC and i have a few scratches on my front bumper because of the idiot that didnt know how to park.

Took mine off, too. It's a ticket here in Mass as well but I haven't had any problems yet.

I never put the front plate on untill about 2 weeks ago. Rocked no front plate for over a year but i've been pulled over twice in the past 2 months. I even got a ticket the first time for $101. I wish the law would focus more on the crystal meth epidemic than not having front plate. I'm sure someone within a mile of where I got the ticket at was either getting raped or jacked by some tweeker at that same time.

So glad it's not required in Delaware; I'm already having enough trouble debating between front window tints vs. police hassle. On an up-note - black rear tag coming soooooon.

jlukja,
in SF, no plate fine is $50. I got one parked unattended in front of my house years ago-very surprised. BTW other counties nearby do not stress the plate law as much as SF...many cars in the Bay Area are without front plates.

$50 can buy a lot of things.

Took my plate off to install clear shield. Too lazy to put it back on. So far, no citation, but then again, I only drive my car a few times a week. I guess it looks nice. But sometimes, it also seems like it's missing something.

I don't dare take mine off. I'm a bit uneasy when it comes to these kind of things.
And also, the factory plate holder came bent on the car, and pretty much got worse in the heat during the summer, and is bending like in different ways. It got pretty bad and kinda molded with a bit of the paint in the front, leaving some nasty knick. So I just keep it on.

For taking pictures though, I usually take it off. That's the only time I take off my plate.

Did you just pay the ticket outright or go to court? I've only had my TSX since April and decided to try to run front plate-less for the first time. Just my luck, a state trooper pulled me over last month and gave me a ticket for not having the plate on. I'm thinking I'll put it on, take a picture of it, go to court and show the judge and he'll drop it. Then it'll come right back off. Unless multiple no front tag tickets turns into some kind of misdemeanor....
