swirl marks

I have a CG and just pick it up, brand new (5 miles on it) and it has a couple of swirls marks from the dealer prep wax, that are pretty bad/obvious.

Anyone know how to take care of this without a re-wax. I have had silver cars in the past and swirls never appeared. THe CG seems like it will be a bit of a problem

My car (not a TSX) is black. When I picked it up brand new from the dealer, it had fine scratches on the hood, probably from taking the protective plastic off. I told the dealer that it was unacceptable, and he paid for a buff/polish and wax. You could try that. Otherwise, you could get it done yourself at a professional detailer. Probably cost you around $100.

You could try something like Meguiars Quix wax, but that's not going to clear it all up. Even when I just waxed my car there were still some very light swirls. What I eventually did was clay bar the ENTIRE car, then I used Meguiars Step 2 Polish, then followed by Meguiars Gold Class wax. Let me tell you, it was well worth the time. The shine has never been deeper, the paint is as smooth as glass and there is not one swirl mark.

I have a CG TSX, and yes it will show scratches and swirls easily. The light reflects off the scratch and shows brightly against that beautiful dark gray. I love the color, but it's much more demanding than my previous silver Accord.

Since the dealer just put them on, the dealer can take them off. It's a completely known potential dealer prep problem -- "swirls and scratches" was a checkbox item on the Acura mail-in survey I received one month after receiving my CG.

Make sure they actually polish out the swirls rather than just mask them. Removal requires use of a very fine abrasive polish, done by a more careful operator than prep'd your car in the first place. Many waxes will mask the swirl, but as the wax wears off in 2-3 weeks they'll be back.

Once the swirls are polished out, check out the "Car Wash" section of this site for some advice on keeping them off (see the sticky topic at the top). It's very easy to scratch the clear coat.
