subjective question about steering wheel so, sorry.

Anyone else experiencing how firm the it is to turn the steering wheel when the car is at a very slow speed, its almost like a non power assisted car when I back out of my drive way.
I wish it were this stiff when traveling at high speed, although its not loose.
Wrong comparison I know, but the wifes Malibu, you can turn the steering wheel at slow speed with your pinkie finger.

How is that Malibu steering feel at 70MPH?

The steering effort is a little heavy at low speeds, but I kind of like it in a way.

It doesn't sound right to me. I'll assume you've checked the PS fluid, but other than that there's little you can do to address it. There have been some reports of rack problems with some of these cars (is yours an 04 by chance?), but it does sound more like a fluid or pump problem. I'd head for a dealer.

After 3 days of ownership, I've got no complaints like that. As a frame of reference, I've had the most 3 recent versions of the Malibu as a rental car in the past for work. What you are experiencing in the Malibu by comparison is the electronic power steering. It's either a love/hate thing. I personally hated.

I never thought it was that stiff. More stiff than my bf's Avalon (LOL), but not difficult to turn. I agree, sounds like something is wrong.
