So I don't know much about TSX's... only that I like them and I am going to buy one. Does the car come with an alarm? Because I have a dealership saying, they will throw one in for free. Is that right? Or are they trying to sucker me in? Let me know, thanks!

Yes, although some people choose to get an aftermarket system as well. Maybe you should read up on acura.com. It has all the features on there....

report to your insurance company that the alarm is standard too... state farm gave me like $100 off a year because of it.

 

Welcome, Merf. EVERY dealer will "throw in" an alarm system for free -- because it's standard equipment. Ask them if they'll also throw in a Lo-Jack transmitter while they're "installing" that alarm system for free.[1]

The TSX has a factory alarm. It doesn't have window-break sensors, tap/touch sensors, etc. It's a simple alarm, and only goes off if you open the door or trunk (hood is attached to the alarm as well I think, since the alarm won't arm if your hood or trunk is not closed). If they break your window and climb in, the alarm will not sound.

Part of the security system is the immobilizer. This prevents the car from being started without your key (the key has a chip inside that sends a signal). Thus, the car can only be stolen by either using a tow truck or replacing the immobilizer (which a thief would probably not want to spend time doing).

 

The Acura alarm only goes off if someone opens the door. I'm not sure if the alarm will sound for all doors or just the front doors? The alarm will NOT sound if they break a widow and steal your stuff.

I imagine if they get into your car by the window, they could also use the trunk/gas release lever to steal from your trunk with no alarm sound.

 

^^Agreed with the two above. The alarm they mentioned is standard equipment on the TSX. Ask your dealer what type of alarm it is. If it is the type that goes off when your car gets bumped, or if your window gets smashed, that is a different type of alarm than the one already on the car. If they mention the above alarms, go to another dealer bc they are playing you for a fool.
