Stupid-looking License Frame

Can someone recommed a non-metallic, preferable rubber, rear license frame.

As you know the plate is fasted to the trunk with 2 screws on top only
and it seems to me the metal frame is bad thing because the frame is flexble so when ever
closing the trunk or road bumps, the frame is liable to scratch/knock against the paint.

and I really don't wont to drill 2 lower holes

I had the same problem. I purchased some self-adhesive weather stripping from Lowes and attached it to the back of the plate. No more noise.

and the other side of the adhesive is attached - directly - to the paint surface ?
are you 100% sure that the chemical in the adhesive is not damaging to the paint ?
and that it won't peel off paint when you need to remove it ?

I think he meant to the back of the license plate frame. Then it's not the frame which is rubbing, but the weatherstripping which won't cause any damage (or noise).

Just stick it to the back of the plate and some to the back of the frame.

Yes, sorry I didn't make that clear. Attach the adhesive to the back of the plate. The plate will still bounce a bit but the weather stripping will provide a cushion against the car surface..

2 adhesive cushions should have come with your car... if not, its no big deal... its just a couple of common black spongy foam pieces with sticky on one side...

my metal frame has 2 grooves in the bottom so the plate is held to the holder tightly there, and only screwed at the top. I worried at first, but the plate and holder are completely rigid.

As suggested by somebody else in an earlier thread, I just bent my license plate slightly, so that there is no longer any contact with the trunk when I close my trunk. Works well, and best of all, it's free.
