stock brakes - weird

I am at 53k miles now and I felt little vibration when braking. So I figured out it was time to change my brakes. My friend is a mechanic so he took a look and we find out this. There's not much rear left but about 70% of front is there!

I have never changed my brakes since i bought it new and dealership never even touched brakes. How is this possible? Isn't front supposed to wear out about 2x faster than rear?

Anyways, that was interesting. We ended up changing just the rears.

That does sound odd. Perhaps something is configured wrong.

For whatever reason the rears tend to wear out faster on the TSX. Its been reported a number of times.

^^yup, it happened to me at 33,000 miles. Rears were extremely low, and the fronts were just fine.

I have about 45,000 miles in my car (05 AT), and I have to take it in to change the rear breaks again.

I first changed my rear breaks at around 17,000 miles. Then around 30,000 I had to change both of them. Now I'm at 45,000 and I have to change my rear breaks again.

Is this normal?

The guys at the dealer (the secound time around) said that I was going to be needing break pads every $17,000 miles. I just figure that it is because I drive 15 miles to and from work on the city streets with stop and go traffic all the way (I live in LA).

I've changed jobs since I had my first brake job, so my commute isn't as stop and go. Hopefully my brakes will last much longer. If not, I'm probably going to go with pads other than stock.
