Spider led brake lights? Who has tried em?
Anyone seen/tried a pair of these? They don't have any shots from far away, but I'm wondering if one could install these without any mods and if they are brighter than stock.

No, they spring open after insertion and stay that way. I really doubt you get great illumination out of them, they simply don't reflect off the rear reflectors they way they're intented to reflected from. I would imagine you'd get better light output from LED towers, which at least locate the LED's sort of where the original bulbs would have been.

I would be concerned about the springs rusting over time making it difficult to remove them from the taillights. Aside from that I would like to give them a shot, though.

I think the earlier LED bulbs may not have been as bright as the newer models that use more LEDs. I was driving behind my car recently during full mid-day sun and had no issues seeing the lights from several car lengths back.

I contacted them about getting review samples years ago, but not surprisingly, nothing came of that. Since then, I haven't heard anything about them or anybody trying them.

Did you replace only the outer brake lamps (shown in the pic) or both the inner tail lamps (next to backup lamps) that work only with the headlights?
Don't think these will fit the inner as they are shallower.

I'll try to take some pics.
You are right, they won't fit in the inner taillight, just the outer brake light which is where I wanted it in the first place to achieve the instant ON/OFF look when I brake.

Please post a picture of your actual car w/ brake lights on, because from the above picture it looks pretty weak.
Are you comparing STOCK LED brakes like Mazda3/G35/Accord coupe one, or "aftermarket"?

I'm talking about aftermarket LEDs, specifically these 48 smt leds/bulb.

where did you get these led bulbs and how much were they? also, do they look better driving at night compared to stock, and would there be any possible problems if i had my tails tinted? thanks

Were they easy to install?

The prices are pretty much the same as when I bought them earlier this year. As far as possible problems with tint I can't say for sure but my gut feeling is anytime you darken the lens, it can only decrease brightness.
The rears were fairly easy but I had to remove the front fender well liners to get at the side lights. In the end, I pulled the whole front bumper off which made it easier to wire in the front turn signal load resistors.
The only major headache was the rear load resistors. You would think that they are only needed for the turn signals but somehow I was having a lot of problems with brake lights. Every time I stepped on the brakes, the dash lights would come on and the Navi switched to night mode. Same as if you turned on the headlights.
It took me a while to figure it out but in the end I discovered that an extra set of load resistors were necessary for the brake lights too. LOL, it kinda defeats the purpose of improving the electrical efficiency by adding LEDs and then adding load resistors to get it all working...
Looking back, it was kinda cool having the turn signals blink faster and not messing with resistors but it's done now and I'm happy with the look.
