A-Spec kit questions

Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum and had some questions for anyone that has information! I am looking to buy a TSX 6MT (not sure whether '05 or '06 yet) and was interested in the A-Spec kit offered at the dealership. I was wondering if anyone has purchased that with their car and what the dealer quoted as the price. I went to test drive one today and was quoted a price of almost $7000 extra for the A-Spec! I thought that sounded really high but I really don't know much about it. If anyone has any information on it, whether this is a total rip off, it would be greatly appreciated!

Inspired, don't get ripped off at the dealership. Get it on ebay, like tnl said. I didn't want the aero kit so I got the A-spec suspension separately from Acura of Escondido on ebay for $600, and I got it installed for about $180. That's the way to go.

On the website the A-Spec kit included a full body kit, wing spoiler, sport suspension, and 17" alloy wheels. Are you talking about getting all of that on e-bay or just the suspension? If you can get all of that for less than $1000 somewhere online then that's definitely the way to go! I won't be getting the car until around November so I still have time to do more research.

I'm not sure why they would quote you $7000, on the Acura Canada website the whole kit lists for $4,688.00. Installation is always included for these things, and even if it weren't there's no way it would bring it up to $7000, even with tax.

Do a search in the Ebay stores feature. Some places sell entire A-Spec packages for the TSX. Theyre featured for the RSX, TSX, TL, and RL. I think it was like $2,000 for suspension, wheels, tires.

The body kit I got for $850 shipped from an Ebay dealer. Installed at a body shop for $200 with a painted rear lip instead of the OEM wing.

Personally I went with the larger 18" TL A-Spec rims over the 17" TSX for the same price off Ebay. I figure if youre going to upgrade rims, even if they are factory, always go bigger or its not really an upgrade.

For suspension, Ive decided the A-Spec doesnt give the lowered look I want. So Im looking into Eibach system if it is ever released or Eibach+Konis. Look at the sticky in suspension forum of different setups. Or do a search for A-Spec suspension if you want to get an idea of how that looks.

17"s... there are no 18" wheels offered for the TSX..it's ghetto.. but you can put the TL 18's on it..

I got the A-Spec suspension and the full underbody kit on my new TSX.. the high wing is cheeseball... and you can buy much nicer 18" wheels 3rd party....

List price on the items used in the kit is very very high.

The "A-Spec Kit" is the full OEM underbody kit, wing spoiler, 17" wheels, A-Spec suspension. I would NOT buy the 17" wheels as there is no upgrade on tires.

Here are some prices (installation included) per the Acura site:
Front underbody spoiler - $450
Side underbody spoiler - $590
Rear underbody spoiler - $450
Rear Wing spoiler - $783

So list price before suspension or wheels is already up to $2273. You can haggle for this pretty good if you do it when you buy your car. It's a TON of profit for dealers and mine did some nice discounting on them.

One piece of advice: even though it is very pricey - any accessories you have installed by Acura carry the balance of the warranty of your car. So if you have your dealer install the A-Spec suspension it will be covered for up to 48,000 miles...

I don't know if the bodywork would warrant having the dealer do it, but for the wing spoiler or the suspension it's worth thinking about.

Don't let them make you pay more than what it says on www.acura.com. They say that they need to charge more for labor and/or they add on a "dealer markup" because they say it is simply "the going rate", which is a bunch of BS.
