Someone push me to the dark side
Someone push me to the dark side
Well, I've lurked and lurked and lurked some more.
I was going to wait until the end of this year to buy a new TSX, but now I'm not so sure. When I first saw the 2009 I thought I really liked it, but the more I look at it and the more I read about it, I like the 2008 more so.
I'm in a good position financially, so buying an 08 now is definitely feasible, but this is my first big purchase and I'm walking the very thin line of waiting or buying now. I just need some pushing, I guess.
The only thing I was wondering was if it would still be possible to buy the front, rear and side under body spoilers for the 08 from Acura without custom building the car, as I'd probably be buying one they already had on the lot? And does anyone know what installation costs are on these while I'm here?
Ugh, I want to do it, I just need a little push...feel free to pass along any tips when headed to a dealer too.
Thanks!

howdy.
I have an '08, you'd be very happy with one, no doubt.
yes, you can just buy the full lip kit for $820 and have it shipped to you from
another dealer. It'll come painted, from the factory, and you can have it installed
for probably around $100 or so. It's not hard to do, you could even do it yourself.
It comes with instructions.
I was in the same boat as you, I jumped in the '08 pool.
Water's nice in here.

Thanks for the response. I was quoted $26,880 for an 08 TSX AT w/Navi, so I think I'll be setting up a time to go and talk with the dealership sometime this week.
I'm thinking this week might end up being pretty fantastic!

Look before you leap. Get a car price report from Consumer Reports or your bank underwriter. The '09s are coming, so I imagine dealers are eager to clear the 2008s of their lots. That, with the Acura loan specials, ought to get you a GREAT deal, not just a good deal. Best of luck!
BTW, many here will say that the car really shines with a 6MT, but the stick is hard to find. I have the 5AT, love it, get great mileage. The Sequential SportShift Mode (SSM) on the shifter rather than paddles gets my

Yeah, I bought mine a few weeks ago, paid a premium ($26.5+ttl, including dest, for a non-navi...). Got the combo I wanted though!
I was in the same situation as you, and took the plunge. I love this car (had to turn it into my DD prematurely since my other car was stolen two weeks after I bought this..

I have to agree with some on here and I would pull the trigger and purchase a 2008 TSX. To me it looks much nicer than the second gen TSX. I own a 2004 TSX and would not sell it or trade it for the newer TSX, besides I have the Euro-R kit
Caro,
I'm in the same situation as you are, though financially I am ok with making this purchase if I make a couple changes to my lifestyle. I've been lurking here for like 4 years, and have been sweatin this car since the day I saw it. Not a huge fan of the 09's look (though don't dislike it, just really, really, really like the first gen), and I didn't feel like much has changed between the 08 and 09. I've moved into "eff it" mode.
I went for a test drive last Friday and it felt quite nice. I don't really like to drive at all, and I'm coming from a 97 Corolla, so anything new would feel good to me. But it's the car I want, it drives well, and I'd like to treat myself for the hard work I do. I told the salesman I wasn't ready to buy or even talk numbers on the first day, and he got a little upset at me and turned rude after a pretty hard sales pitch. A friend of mine was in the area of another dealership in MA, and got quoted 28,200 for pwp AT w/ NAV, but was definitely willing to negotiate to get the 08s off the lot. I'm probably going to start the "fax attack" method when I receive my package from fightingchance.com in the next couple of days and see how things go...I think the best advice that could have been given to me is to remember that salesmen are salesmen - they are not your friend and they are certainly not always looking out for your best interest, so don't worry about hurting their feelings and saying no or walking away. The guy that went with me probably would have had a sale by the end of this week if he didn't deviate from his sales pitch, but now I don't even want to look at that guy ever again.
That being said, I've been a nervous wreck since the test drive! It's a big move for me, and the numbers say it's at the brink of my price range. Negotiating and working out financing are things I don't enjoy doing nor am I very good at it. But the test drive confirmed that I really like the car...if you need to be pushed to the dark side, I'd recommend pushing yourself for a test drive - just don't commit to anything before you're ready because he was trying to sell me the car pretty hard after I got out.

Might not get just the color you want, but you'll save thousands, and probably not have a rock in your throat as you sign the papers. Buying a 2008, you're just pissing money away down the "depreciation drain," IMNERHO. YMMV. At least do a search and a test drive.
Got an '08 last month too...
I think it looks nicer...and the '09 doesn't REALLY feature that much more...although they say the torque change makes a 'big' difference...apparently...
And you can't go wrong with a free Navi package = )
