Someone pranked my TSX
#45
No no no. Here's how you prank someone. On all NT-core operating systems, there is a neato little program called "at.exe". This is the scheduler. You can use it to set off any timebomb you want, even from across the network.
You must be logged into the machine as administrator, OR have a network drive mapped to the machine with an administrator account.
The syntax of the command is:
at \\machinename HH:MM /interactive command
for instance:
at \\192.168.0.112 15:30 /interactive c:\system32\sol.exe
will cause Solitaire to start on the machine with that IP address at 3:30 pm.
or:
at \\192.168.0.112 08:00 /interactive shutdown -0
will cause the machine to shutdown at 8:00 am.
Use your imagination!
at \\192.168.0.112 09:00 /interactive explorer "http://www.whatever.com"
(You can only imagine the websites that you could bring up on someone else's computer - all from the safety of your own machine!)
Queue up several instances at the same time to launch many programs simultaneously:
at \\192.168.0.112 12:30 /interactive c:\system32\sol.exe
at \\192.168.0.112 12:30 /interactive c:\system32\sol.exe
at \\192.168.0.112 12:30 /interactive c:\system32\sol.exe
at \\192.168.0.112 12:30 /interactive c:\system32\sol.exe
at \\192.168.0.112 12:30 /interactive c:\system32\sol.exe
Write a batch file and set it off - the possibilities are endless (believe me, I have pulled some GREAT ones.)
at \\192.168.0.112 15:30 /interactive c:\haha.bat
I once hit someone's Powerpoint presentation like this in the middle of a training class by running a program that makes Mr. Bean's face appear really big with eyes that follow your cursor. All on the overhead projector in front of a LOT of people. And I was 15 miles away when it went off...

The main thing is that it has to be NT core (NT4, W2K, XP, 2K3), because at.exe does not exist for Win9X as it relies on the NT security subsystem.
You can also use AT to set up recurring events, e.g. make something happen every Tuesday at 9:00 am.
Just type:
at /?
from a command prompt and get all the different syntax formations.
More fun tidbits:
Remember that prefixing "start" to a command will launch it in its own memory space. Why, you ask? Consider this batch file named "run.bat":
---
@echo off
sol.exe
run.bat
---
This will run solitaire, wait for solitaire to complete (when you close it), and then it will run again and another instance will pop up. One at a time.
Now try this one:
---
@echo off
start sol.exe
start run.bat
---
This will crash your computer. It will recursively launch solitaire AND rerun itself launching again and again until you are out of memory (very quickly). Want it to happen exponentially faster? Put another "start run.bat" line in there. The last thing you see will be several hundred solitaire windows open on your computer.
Save that little batch file and schedule it to run... heh heh...

Well everybody...I tinted ole' Pooh Bears Nissan Altima today and as he left my shop with 20% chocolate window skins madicco stiley he also had another sweet surprise.......I put the ole' "I Love Gay Porn" bumper sticker an his ride to pay his @ss back.
The last I heard from his was he was stuck in "bumper to bumper" traffic by the Narrows bridge.
He had at least 45 minutes of it left before he got home also.
Pay Back baby!
