so when is a TSX broken in?
I just got an 07 and in have about 500 miles on it. When would you say it's broken in? Yes, I know this could be all relative. Thanks.

it's a car-drive it
I live in NC and bought my 06 tsx in PA. my car's break-in was driving it 700 miles home. the dealer in Pa had to get the car from a dealer in NJ so it had 138 miles on it when I first drove it. It is now 8 months old with 21,122 miles. no problems except paint chips and cracked foglights that were replaced.

I guess officially its broken in at 600mi. By this mileage you should have exercised the engine thoroughly enough that you don't need to worry about keeping it at certain rpms and/or causing hotspots. However, it takes much longer for the engine to truly break in. For instance, my mileage improved by 2mpg after I hit 8000 mi. on the odometer. Judging by what JTso said I would gather that complete engine break in happens around 10K +/- depending on your driving style.

analysis showed elemental deposits well within the ranges for a carefully broken-in
engine. I would say that by the time the MID is at 0% oil life the first time - at
about 5500 miles - the engine is "broken-in", whatever that means. I did not
redline this one until 600 miles, and I did not see any appreciable change in fuel
mileage from 0 miles to the present 16k miles.
I guess one way to approximately determine when break-in is complete is to do a
compression leakdown test every 2000 miles or so, and when the leakdown
stabilizes, it's done.
