So...uh...I got a new toy... (Pics on Page 2)
Well, I took the plunge and got a new 2006 TSX. It's Nighthawk Black Pearl over an Ebony interior, 6MT, no navi.
I was able to trade in my 2004 for the entirety of the lease buyout amount and got about $1k off of MSRP. I must say that Radley Acura and its sales/finance team impressed me with their good service. I made the sales guy run back and forth to the sales manager at least a dozen times before I okayed the deal.
In terms of driving impressions, the car feels a little more solid, as Jason had stated in another thread. The transmission is such a joy to shift and the HandsfreeLink is excellent. The new gauges are nice and easy on the eyes. Wheels are a lot better in person than they look in pictures and actually look ok against the black. Of course, I do have a set of TL wheels with summer rubber on them waiting to go on the car after the winter passes.
Probably the best change to the interior is actually the MID. I don't know why Acura didn't include this in the 2004 TSX, but it's a wonderful thing. I love the instantaenous gas mileage display and the trip computer. I spent all of my first 100 miles behind the wheels trying to maximize the gas mileage, which with a 75/25 percent city/highway split, is at 24.6 mpg, according to the car.
As for the power delivery, it's hard to compare since my 04 was an AT, but my butt dyno feels like the 06 has the same sort of powerband as my Hondata'd 04 on the low end. I am waiting until the break-in period has passed before dipping into the upper end of the powerband to really feel the new changes to the engine. Overall, the car feels more powerful than stock versions that I have driven in the past.
Overall, I think it was a good change for me and this should keep me happy for at least a little while. Damn I missed driving MT...
Oh, more pictures will be coming after today. It's supposed to snow so I'm not going outside unless I absolutely have to.
I think my biggest concern right now is what to do about my username.

nice congrats man. now on to the other business. will you be our tester and take some close up pictures of the radiator cover. the under side of the front bumper. close up of the sides of the headlights. also any chance you would be willing to remove the bumper and take some pics of whats behind it. reason I am asking about this is to see if it is possible to put the 06 mugen kit on an 04/05.

yeah, you're lucky if a used car dealer knows if it has oil in it, much less what information has been flashed into the ecu. congrats on the '06, and especially on getting back into a 6mt.

Congrats CG! Quick question for you, how was the Acura dealer about your lease buyout/ending? I was interested in doing that with my car as well. Is there a big penalty? If you wouldn't mind, can you explain the process?

The dealership takes care of all the paperwork and processing from that point on.

They agreed and bought my car for the lease payoff amount.

Congrats! I think it speaks volumes for the TSX when a guy drives one for a couple of years and still decides to get back into another one. Th '06 really ups the ante when you factor in improved performance and all the amenities it now has. Pretty tough to beat.
Don't you mods have the power to change your usernames?
