Just $87 for a lip spoiler?? THAT IS HELLA CHEAP!!!
I bought mine for around $30 on eBay and around $200 to paint that dinky little spoiler. The body shop did something called color tinting which is tinting over a actual paint to contrast the color and match the color accordingly. Also they used flexible paint since the lip wasn't solid and made with polyurethane which were very flexible.

and actually i bought my car with the intention of not modifying anything.. i can afford a new TL. or even RL with no problem, but i did not forsee a need for all the power, luxury, and not to mention 7000 extra for TL and 20G more for RL. so i got the TSX...

TSX is an excellent piece of work in every aspect, no regret here and i still love it, but seeing how everyone spend all the money on there.. it will wont be faster nor moer luxurious than a G35 or TL.. so why keep throwing money in.. if you love it, hey, by all means make urself happy.. but im just saving money for my next 300 HP car .. no mod needed

That's somewhat of a contradicting post. You start by saying I can afford a RL, or TL.... then you end by saying I'm just saving money for my next 300hp car.

I could afford a new lamborghini, doesn't mean I am going to buy one now or in the future. I chose the TSX because its a balance of so many good things in a reliable, fuel effecient package.

For what some of the mods cost they are well worth it, with very little negative impact. For example the RSB and Hondata ECU reflash are both great upgrades for the money. As for body kits, wheels and other big buck add-ons, I see no value in them because they really don't offer much in terms of performance. Then people will argue that there car is an expression of who they are..... This is the timeless tuner debate - style vs. performance vs. stock

modding a car is very addicting. as for me, nada yet. it's tempting though. i'll wait next year, if i still have the car, to mod just a lil bit here and there. might just do the same thing as VB

I spent about $1,400 before I even took delivery of the car, heck before I even went to the dealership to negotiate the car I was already buying parts. The first 3 days of having the car I was in $3,000 in mods. I expect to hit $5,000 by my 3rd month of having the car, probably remain there until the end of this year. After that its stereo upgrades so another $6,000+

BTW: I can afford a new Lamborghini, just dont have the need for one. I have had a NSX, GS400, 355 Spyder, and RX300. The TSX is a car that can blend in without attracting too much attention or key marks. It can be taken grocery shopping or out of town. A low profile car, that not too many people notice. Besides I would rather have the new Ferrari F430 Spyder than a Lambo or the Mercedes SL that I was going to get for my next luxury/sport coupe.

From what I understand paint shops use a flex agent that is a paint additive. Its used on any parts of any vehicle that arent metal. Basically bumpers, trim, spoilers, body kits, etc.

The TSX trunk isnt perfectly flat as the BMW is, so the lip spoiler does need to bend slightly on each end to adhere against the trunk lid. The flex paint additive prevents the lip spolier's paint from chipping, cracking, wrinkling, or breaking when the corners of the spoiler are pressed down firmly to adhere to the trunk lid. Personally this is why I would expect a flex to be used when painting my spoiler, but thats just my preference.

It's worth it. Not another car comes close to value, economy, function
fun. Nothing available to compete with it what else would
I do. When I got a TL loaner, it was very refreshing to get my car back.
When I don't need a 4 door 5 passenger, maybe 3 years, I would like an
S2000. That's about the only thing that fits the total package of economy
and performance. I will have to choose between S2000 and TSX in a few
years. Maybe mine will stay in the family too.

I followed my own car yesterday. Really looks good, nice ride height.
Wheels were cheap and will get replaced one day but everyone likes them.

Lip spoiler $30, my body shop painted for free
K&N CAI $180
DC header $260
Bulbs $70
4 db650 $150
db690 $150
Comptech RSB $115
dynamat $60
Ground Wires $30
Voltage Stabilizer $40
18" Kazera Rims $600
Fuzion Tires $500
Amsoil $50
Nuespeed Koni $450
Comptech 110-160 $200
Ingalls rear $145
SPC Front Camber $100
Alignment $60
Liscense frame $15
Caliper paint $20
drill/slot rotors $65 , nobody bidded on ebay, got a steal for four
Comptech FSB $200 just bought on black mkt not received yet

Total 3500
savings -400
net 3100

round numbers total is probably off $100.
Savings. Sold OEM Michelins Tires - 400

Next year I will to Tanabe exhaust $700.

All these prices include shipping:

Comptech Rear-Sway: $140

TEIN Basics: $670

Injen CAI: $220

Greddy Evo2: $735

Total: $1765

Future Mods:

Hondata: $595

OEM Body Kit: $830

Wheels and Tires: $1000

Grand Total: $4185

My ----->Mods were well worth the money, I have never for a second wished I had a TL. I have driven it and it just doesn't compare to my set-up IMO. This car isn't supposed to be an Sti type car. It's a luxary automobile with some performance mods. It's a balance that doesn't really comprimise anything major. When driving non-modified TSX's I can really see the difference and sometimes slopiness of the car in stock form. I love the TSX and will have it for years to come.

As has been noted, flex additive is required for anything that has any "give" to it. I found this out after I scratched my first Teg's bumper some years back, got it repainted, then found it cracking after a year b/c my bodyshop choice sucked and they cheaped out on flex additive - always check for an I-Car Gold Class shop as a starting point (don't rely just on this certification, though).

I guess I had fun modding my previous car, but I dunno... after thousands of dollars and all of that effort, and then you get another car and have to do it again? I don't think I have the energy. Seriously, though, I tried to do things sensibly, saved a lot of money here and there, and in the end, I don't want to think about how many thousands. 2? 3? Hopefully not much more than that.

So, what's on my short list for the TSX?
  • Audio system upgrade
  • Air filter/CAI
  • Rear sway bar
  • A-spec suspension
  • Body kit
  • Spoiler

That's over $2000 right there! Maybe I can drop the body kit.

My sound system is all stealth install except the front two tweeter. So nothing fancy looking speakers can be seen and people think that it is a really nice sounding "stock" system.
