Small blue light

What is that small blue light for right by the two vanity lights near the rear view mirror?

It is just a little thoughtful designed to give you some interior light at night. It gives a blue hue and modest illumination to the shifter.

I believe it's meant to light the shifter, more so for the automatics because there is no way for lighting from underneath to light up P, R, N, & D on account of the opaque materials.
