Sirius Radio

I love having XM radio but once Howard Stern starts on Sirius I am going to have to switch to Sirius. It's great that the TSX is already rigged for XM. Does anybody know if the existing equipment can be utilised for Sirius. I'm not looking forward to having extra receivers or antennas sitting there in order to receive Sirius.

At this point, you'd have to have new hardware.

You would have to control the Sirius through an external tuner. There's currently no solution that will integrate it directly to Factory HU the same way that the XM is setup.

I believe Alpine is releasing a VehicleHub interface soon that is is suppose to allow you to connect alpine products with the AiNet interface to a factory HU and retain the factory controls. It's also suppose to be able to display video on the Navi screen. Last I heard this is still in development. If it comes out and does what it has been advertised to be able to do, it will be a very cool product, and could provide the solution that you're looking for.

Different frequencies (although close), different signal structures. The short answer is no, no mix and match. Here's some info I found some time ago:

Also, I don't believe that you could use the same antennas, but I'd need one of my transiever guys to confirm this. That being said, it wouldn't be too difficult to build a "smart" receiver that could "configure" itself to decode either signal structure (the frequencies for Sirius and XM are right next to each other, only 12.5 mhz apart), but you might need two kinds of antennas (although I'm not so sure of that....).
