Should I?

I need opinions. I have an '02 Eclipse GT manual, and the speed is descent. I really like the TSX, style, quality and all but the engine is questionable. It is the same horsepower as my GT but the torque is much lower on the TSX, 166. I'm really having trouble finding an accurate 0 - 60 time for the TSX. Anyone have any ideas on that?

What do you guys think about the power of the TSX?

The MT can do 0-60 in about 7.2 to 7.5 and the AT in the low 8's.

si, example of when the new jetta came out in 99, the old 98 below went down hella in price.

as for the rsx, the integra still owns it, i know many people that would take it over an rsx, they only want it for the power.

You can't compare a FI car torque to a NA car. If 0-60 times is what matter to you - look elsewhere.

The TSX isn't going to win any red light drag races, however in my own humble experience it has plenty of power for everyday driving, especially once it is up to speed. I personally love the fact that you get near V6 levels of performance with 4-banger efficiency.

To truly appreciate what a fine piece of craftmanship the TSX is you have to look at its overall refinement, reliability and feature content in regards to its class. Then check out the price that won't empty the piggy bank. Keep in mind that though you can get a bigger engine in other competitors, by the time they are similarly equipped to the TSX, you will be nearing the 35K-40K envelope.

I think if Acura had dropped a V6 in the TSX then it would've harmed sales of the TL and USDM Accord, which is the bread and butter for Honda of NA. Being the conservative company that Honda is, that would be the last thing they would think of doing. After all, they had to answer the question: would someone pay $27K for a rebadged Accord in the US? If the market here responds well, you can expect a much better equipped TSX in the future.

About the only thing I really wish they had done better with is the OEM tires.

I hear people complain about the tires all the time, but I don't get it...I've never had any trouble hydroplaning in 2 hurricanes now and the interior noise levels on the highway are super low compared to other low profile tire equipped cars I've ridden in. I guess if you want to race your car then you need a stickier tire, but I like the ones that came with my car.

If 0-60 and off the line performance is a priority than the TSX is the wrong car for you.

Lots of hurricanes in Chicago these days??

The tires do not stick to the road, and I think the road noise is very loud on concrete, which many of the highways around here consist of. A lack of insulation is probably a main factor as well.

The OEM Michellins are great for straight line stability, comfort and low rolling resistance. In other words they're just right for 85% of the drivers out there. However when it comes to cornering they fall short of my standard for grip...the car seems to feel somewhat unplanted when I'm taking fast corners, especially on wet days. And I don't consider myself to be a racer of any sorts.

Does anyone know if the A-spec kit comes with better tires?

Samir, I'm in the exact same boat as you, only my Eclipse GT is an '01. You need to go test drive the TSX. I spent a lot of time reading this board (still do), as well as reviews about the TSX. I found plenty of comments about how the 4cyl in the Acura feels like a 6, and other than that, I'm completely sold on this car. So, I went and test drove one a few weeks back. Granted, the A/C was on in the car because it was about a 95 degrees day, and the salesman and my wife were both in the car with me...but I was very dissapointed in the TSX's power, especially the low-end. As you know, while the Eclipse is no 350Z, it is a very peppy, fun car to drive, especially with a few bolt-ons. I didn't get that feel from the TSX and have pretty much decided to go with a 6spd TL. (I need to get a sedan to replace my Eclipse, as my wife and I just had a baby 2 weeks ago.)

I'm not intending to offend anyone on this board who is a TSX owner. As a matter of fact, I still haven't 100% convinced myself not to buy one, as I like the car so much. At first I didn't like it's styling as well as the TL, but I now like it better. I also like the instrument cluster way better on the TSX than on the TL. But coming from the Eclipse, the lack of torque on the TSX is very noticible.

I understand where this comes from, but I think Acura should consider also what they are building, there is a ton of room between 200hp and 270hp.

I don't have one yet. I'm waiting for the '05. I'll probably make my purchase sometime in October or November. But my point is that except for the torque thing, I like the TSX so much that I'm finding it hard to conclusively decide on the TL.

BTW, where you a Club3g member?

Plus, I think the MT's in the high 7's while the At's in the midlow 8's, which is pretty slow.
