Set the oil light gauge to a different mileage

Hello,
I have a 2008 Acura tsx.
Is there a way to set the oil light gauge to a different mileage instead of 3000? So for instance if I use synthetic oil, is there a way to set it for 5000?

thanks

The mantainence minder is not set to any mileage. It considers rpms, trip length, etc to calculate a change interval. The interval in question is set considering dino oil, not synthetic, and generally runs between 5000 and 7500 miles, with some drivers seeing close to 10000 miles before getting a Service Due message.

Interesting.
I am seeing the Service Due message, and I have done about 3000 miles. It always seems like 3000. I have never questioned it before now. Is there something wrong with my car's calculations?

Others may know more, but 3K miles does seem like an awfully short interval. Unless you do all very short trips, I would question it too. For comparison, my wife's 07 seems to float between 7K and 8K miles, and that's virtually all highway miles, 75 at a whack (which makes me wonder when I see anecdotal reports of 9K or more on the MM, since long highway trips are about as easy as it gets on motor oil).

It's possible if you drive the car really hard. I get around 4500-5000k miles before I have to change it and that's usually with 10-15% left.

Duck Dodgers, Simba and npolite are correct...short, city trips as well as driving hard can have a dramatic effect on the mantainence minder's calculations. I have personally seen my "spirited driving" (more in the summer), have an effect on oil change intervals. Going into higher RPMs, engaging VTEC often will do that. And it makes sense to change your oil more often if those are your driving habits.
