Scraped Bottom on my New TSX

Three days after picking up my 06 TSX, while exiting my doctor's office's parking lot's driveway, I scraped the front bottom of the car. (I'm now acutely aware that my TSX rides substantially lower than my previous car -- a Forester -- and I take a real good look at speed bumps, parking lot/driveway entrances etc now)

Anyways -- It sounded pretty loud at the time, so I took a quick look at the front bottom, felt underneath the car ( back behind the bumper, at the lowest point) and there doesn't "appear" to be any damage. There have been no after-effects that I can detect. However, I can feel some roughness under the edge that is at the lowest point on the front end of the car.

Is there something specific that I should be looking for? Should I have it checked out by either the dealer or a body shop? Or is there some sort of Do It Yourself procedure to follow to check it over?

I want to avoid it rusting or otherwise deteriorating in some fashion.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I bet you scraped the front tow mounts. See the rusty point in the pic.

I wouldn't worry about it, you should be fine.
Sorry to hear about it though. The first "incident" always hurts!

Lito is really low with that splitter. With the Eibach Pro-Kit and the OEM kit, I have enough issues with hitting crap as it is. I still be with the OEM height, the poster hit the tow hook. I think I did once or twice even before the springs and it makes a pretty nasty noise.

I like the service jack. My wife got me another Craftsman one for x-mas. I had not problems installing the header and cat using that style service jack. The smaller ones just do not have the lift for getting under the car IMO.

You might not have actually scraped the bumper. What you might have scraped were the air diffusers used to force air around the tires (clearly visible in the picture above). These are rubberized plastic so not a whole lot to worry about as they are pretty durable.

Thanks for all of the quick replies, guys.

I didn't think that I scraped the bottom of the bumper, although it felt like it at the time. After looking at it, I realized that it was in the area behind the bumper, probably just in front of, and midway between, the front tires.

From the pictures, it could well have been the tow hooks.

Let's hope so. At least it's an area that you can't see.

Let's hope that it's a long time before I find any scrape or ding in a visible area!

Yeah, only 4 inches in front would be embarrassing. Have you tried herbal remedies or a pump?
