Hey guys, I'm from the CL forum but thinking about getting a TSX since I saw an SCCA race with the RealTime RSX's and TSX's. Do any of you know what kind of mods they have on it? Also, what kind of numbers do you guys run w/ normal bolt ons (I/H/E)? Are these pretty nice little cars in 6spd trim? Would I be bummed going from a 6cyl to a 4cyl? Sorry if these are dumb questions but any help or input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-Baum

I lived a couple of miles from the RealTime shop when I lived in Wisconsin and the cars are very heavily modified. They take the car down to the unibody and start from there.
I would look at the Mid-Ohio school cars. They are also use TSX's.

the tsx is very nice for what it is (enty level luxury/sport sedan). im sure with a few mods at high rpms the dcarew ould pull nicely. i had a 5spd 2000 maxima with intake and exhaust, and short shifter. the car felt pretty quick comapred to the tsx but neither are "fast" cars. i dont regret it

The TSX is like a really nice Ford Escort with heated seats.

Did Ford start making a new Escort??? The last one I sat in couldn't even begin to compare to the TSX.

Also I keep leaving the headlamps on because it doesn't have auto headlamps. First car in about 10 years without it and a compass.......

Well, of course it's not going to have the performance of the 'vette -- what does? But if you have a MT, you'll just have to learn how to get the most out of a high revving engine. :-) It's not something I feel like drag racing, but it seems pretty peppy to me. *shrug*
I generally hear the "ding ding" if I leave the headlights on. But I agree that it could use a compass.
(The Escort crack was a low blow, though!)

However, I wouldn't put "fun driving" outside of the TSX's skill set. The TSX is fun to drive, along the same lines as a Mini, Miata, or any small powerplant, well-balanced car. Don't ever go looking for power in a TSX. If you come from the mindset that a NA, 4 cyl, 3000 lbs FWD family sedan can be absolutely tossed at reasonable speeds, the TSX can surprise you. The TSX does it better even compared to alot of RWD sedans in its class.
Of course, if you step out of a near-exotic like your vette and into your TSX....well, I'd feel the same way as you, I don't care what anyone says. Power is power.

The TSX is not a "Performance Car" if that term includes Corvettes, but it's supposedly a "Sports Sedan". It seems to live up to that decently.

Geez, guys, can't we own more than one car? I wouldn't mind having a "weekend car" that was impractical, if I could afford it....
But, yeah, I do think it's funny how Tim likes to remind us about the Vette.
Even most sports cars aren't going to compare well to the performance of a Vette!
And I think he had to know that the Escort crack was going to get some attention.
I think part of the problem is that you have to get past the raw-power-is-everything mode. If you can do that, then you can start enjoying the handling... mebbe some upgrades are in order, but still, even on the test drive, you should be able to figure out that the TSX is a lot more interesting to drive than the average sedan.
