Rusty Calipers

I notice that my calipers are starting to rust both front and back I'm not sure why but I never notice any rust until this winter I'm not sure if it was because of the salt or maybe the wheel cleaner that I been using is there anyway to clean off the rust and protect them from future rust I thought about painting them but I don't really like the look of them painted
