Royal Purple??????

Has anyone used Royal Purple oil in their car? I heard this is supposed to be alot better and they also have coolant and power steering fluid. I was thinking about replacing everything with their products. Does anyone have any info on whether or not it is worth the price as it is quite expensive but it lasts alot longer and supposed to be great on the car. Here is a link http://www.royalpurple.com/prodsa/auto.html yall tell me what ya think!

their Motor oil is one of the best you can buy. Highly worthwhile in an engine like the K24. I would run the engine in to at least 5k miles before putting synthetic in though. The rest of the stuff I wouldnt bother with

For syn oil I have used in various cars

Mobil 1
Royal Purple
Penzoil Plantium

By Far, without UOA, just feel the winner is Royal Purple. Engine purrs smoother plain and simply.

I too use Royal Purple syn. oil. I've been using Mobil 1 in other cars with good results. After breaking in the TSX I did the research and liked what I'd heard about RP. What finally sold me was the purported cold start protection it offered. If true it is well worth the premium cost. There seems to be no end to the "which is best or BS" debate when it comes to choosing oil. To me it's a waste of time to debate the final 5% of an agreed to 95% subject. Do what you feel is best to do and in this case protect your engine.

I would consider Royal Purple and Amsoil the best synthetic motor oils you can easily get off the shelf. NEO also makes super high grade stuff, but its not sold most places.

Redline I would consider a good choice for Turbo engines that run especially hot. It uses a slightly different base stock than that others that holds up especially well to high heat. Some of its other characteristics werent as good as others mentioned above however. Found this infor in some big oil study I read.

Honestly, in the end you'll choose a motor oil based upon your opinions of motor oil and what you read and interpret.

I personally think Royal Purple does well for a Camaro for horsepower gain, based upon an episode I saw in the speed channel where they drain all the fluid out of a camaro (for coolant they added just an additive) and put back Royal Purple in everything. I think it was horsepower tv. The before and after dyno revealed a 10 hp increase I believe. Which tells me two things, the oil is very slick and reduce friction of moving parts, but then I think about how much protection the oil can actually offer being so slick. Another thing is when you drain royal purple out, it doesn't come out purple, which makes me wonder where the heck all the dye goes? Does it go to your seals? Is it good for them if it does?...just things I think about.

Their racings oils are not intented supposedly for street use, so I wouldn't purchase them.

Very slick -> Yes

Coats and retains contact with whatever it touches -> Yes (according to the RP people)

If interested, I suggest you hit their site and read up on what they say makes their oil better. Now I know that there are those who won't believe what they read and I'm not suggesting that you should. What I am saying is if 1/2 of what they say is true it's still better for your engine vs. dino engine. As for the color, remember that all sny oils are highly detergent (that's why you don't put them in a high mileage engine) and will hold a lot of crap in suspension and hench a color change along with other reasons. If you can put some on your fingers and rub them together, now try to quickly clean it off. It almost feels a little tacky & slick. Kinda weird stuff.
