Replacing rear rotors after 41000 km - is that within norm?
I'm sitting at the dealership now about to pay $344 for replacing the rear rotors after 41000 km. I would get a "klank" type noise when I engaged the brakes so I got them to check it out, and they said my rear rotors are worn out. They recommended replacing instead of machining and I picked the aftermarket rotors instead of the much, MUCH more expensive Acura ones.
I would describe my driving as "spirited" but the vast majority of the time I'm easy on the brakes and plan to gently brake ahead of time. On the other hand, I was the car often which results in a lot of rust while it's trying, then I clear them by braking a few times. Would that be the major factor in much shorter rotor life? I park the car in a garage at night so it doesn't get that much weather exposure.
What's a typical replacement time?
For the record, my Accord needed a brake job about that often, so maybe my driving is more agressive than I think?

Wow, I would expect to wear out the brake pads by then but not the rotors. How many sets of pads did you go through? Did you wait too late on the pad replacement till the rotors were damaged? IMHO this is very unusual.

No that's not normal at all especially if it's the "REAR" rotor. On an Automatic transmision the brakes go much faster than a manual but 41000KM is too little for a new rear rotor.
If your Accord required the same maintenance with the same interval, I guess your style of driving is the main cause.

Someone stole "My Garage"
Call up Mike at No Limits Auto Parts. 613.748.PART. Tell him Eric from ClubIntegra.ca sent you and ask him if he can get anything for you that might be significantly cheaper than the stealer. Odds are any mechanic can install them or you can even do them yourself fairly easily. PM me if you need a scan of the service manual for that section.

By the way, it was the front rotors, the guy came in later to correct himself.
I can't remember if I got my pads changed already, I just take it to the dealership for all the regular service intervals like it says in the book
