Replace Non XM Navi with XM Navi
Replace Non XM Navi with XM Navi
The title sort of says it all.
I have a 04 tsx with navi (non XM). I was looking at getting the GROM USB2P-HON1 for bluetooth/ipod/usb integration. It states that if you do not have the xm feature the artist and title will not be displayed on the screen. Would I be able to replace the non xm navi with a xm navi? Obviously my car doesnt have xm, I dont want it anyways, plus it needs to be disabled to use the GROM device.
Any thoughts or experience on the subject?

You do also understand you don't have an XM antenna right? 04 didn't have Sirius/XP. You'll be better off getting the XM stand alone receiver. New receivers also have DS-R so you can pause what's playing and start the song again. I'm all for integration but some things are better going the stand alone option I think.
Looks nice - I have two separate devices that do what this one does (a USASpec for iPod and Motorola IHF1000 for bluetooth). I also have an XM receiver attached that feeds into the USASpec so the space behind my center tray is packed to the gills with wiring and boxes.
You should have plenty of room to put this box behind the tray and it looks as though it comes with quick connect fittings which makes things really easy. The hardest part will be routing the handsfree microphone (I'm assuming that's what the bluetooth dongle is). It's not hard provided the wire is long enough - you just have to fish it around to get it to the A-pillar and up to the area around the rear view mirror. Drill a small hole in the tray and you can drop both the iPod and USB extension through so you can keep both of those accessible while you drive.

I dont want XM in my car, the point have having a screen that is XM compatible is to have the title and artist appear instead of track one or whatever it says. So im pretty much replacing the whole center dash screen/cd changer for one from a newer model that has the XM button instead of AUX.
