Rear View (front) Camera

Rear View (front) Camera
I called BestBuy/Circuity/Frys. They all said they can install backup camera to my 2006 TSX navigation system for $200 to $300 depending on camera.
but Pioeer one is expensive around but they visibility under night condition with upto 130 degree angle.
alpine usa also has it and they say it is more suitable for Alpine systems and there is apline authorized installer in peninsuala.
http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...model=HCE-C105
so any one has experiance with these supposedly electronics retailers dealing wtih car audio/video/navigation. frys give 3 hr time for installation.
i just need this system. too much many times rims hitting the curbs and parking problem. I thing i would also install front camera as TSX has too much height difficult to jude where the tire actually is speciallly during car wash. the front rim nearly bent up by the mvoing tray

The backup camera mod you can do very easily yourself. Search around on the boards. There's plenty of instruction here on how to do it.
As for a front camera, the backup camera is triggered by a circuit that is closed when you put the car in reverse. You can tap into the video feed with the front camera, then 'trick' the car into thinking it's in reverse using a switch to close that circuit when you want the front camera to come on, or something like that. Shouldn't be too difficult.

It takes 30 minutes to install, after making the wire harness that is. (Which is simple as well) To install on the front, maybe hour, hour and a half due to running wires. Seriously, its stupid easy to do. I mean, if you have money to throw around and dont want to be bothered, thats one thing, but this is definately a novice level DIY job.

In general, I don't like the installers at the retail chains. There are some chains that have experienced installers though. You just have to make sure you get one of them working on your car. You might want to go into the install bay and talk to one of the installers directly. A rear view camera install shouldn't be very difficult so I don't think you have to worry as much. If you were getting a full system installed, I'd be more careful though.
Where you planning to them mount the camera for the front view?

Sorry if I'm being ridiculous but...
Is a front-viewing camera really necessary? Especially a nightvision one?
I don't know if the cost of a camera is worth the accuracy of your car for a carwash a couple times a month. You might just have to do some studying and practice your car positioning.
If there are babies rolling around very close to your front tire then the mom didn't want them anyways :-/

The nightvision in the front would be one of those very cool to show off things, while at the same time being completely useless.

Oliver!!!
Self parking Lexus? Kidding!!! Seriously though, I had some problems parallel parking the TSX when I first got it, and I can parallel an F550 utility truck without even thinking about it. The front end just doesn't swing like my last car did.
I can see the merit if you're going to parallel park it every day. Otherwise, I'd just say you'll get better with practice. Just takes time and patience, that's all.
