rear ended, license plate screws

i got rear ended tonight and it wasn't very hard but enough to leave two screw imprints from the license plate, it made a black circle on my bumper. Is repainting the whole thing the only way to fix this or is there a clean way to do it myself?

Did the other person have insurance? Make them pay for it and have it repaired at a body shop.

i know plenty of ppl who have plate bolt indentations in their bumpers.

most of which is from parallel parking. i don't think they've ever tracked down the culprits. they kind of just deal with it.

would be interested to know, however, if there is diy solution to this problem.

Haha, that's funny. Kinda wish it was made of metal so that the other guy's front bumper absorbed more punishment for hitting your car, tho.

it's not really a dent per se. it's like an impression in the polyurethane. like if you added some pressure to a piece of styrofoam with a blunt object, you'd get an impression. it can't be popped out. but then it's not missing paint or clearcoat either. it's too deep to be buffed out b/c of the nature of the indentation (or is it), and it's not deep enough to pop out and repair.

the bumper badger is a good idea. but sometimes i wonder if that just gives someone the green light to tap your car.

Why would you want to do it yourself?? Take it to a bodyshop, get an estimate and send the person who hit you the bill.

I use them on both my cars and would not leave home without them. In fact it makes people aware that you are anal about your car and they are more careful. They take notice.

lol. yeah. it's a trade-off i guess. but i can see some a-hole being like 'don't want me to hit your car, eh?' and they key your ride.

Maybe a bumper porcupine would do better. That way, if someone taps your bumper, a hundred spikes shoot out and dig into the other guy's bumper.

I'd pay for one of those, hehe.
