Realistic "Great" price out the door - with and without Navi

Can you guys tell me what are some realistic numbers that would be great to get the car out the door with Navi and without Navi (girlfriend can't decide if she needs it).
I was thinking $26K without and $28K with Navi? Can I do better than these numbers? Has anyone done better than these numbers?
Also, what kind of savings can I expect if I wait until the 2005's come out?

You can definitely do better, but I'm not sure I'm as optimistic as iamhomin.
As far as a cash price, I think 27.5 and 25.5 are prices that you could get with some effort, but are quite realistic. You should be able to get those. I think 27.0 and 25.0 are achievable but difficult. I would have thought that 26.5 and 24.5 would be very very hard, but if people have gotten it then more power to them. My experience based on Chicago area.
Prices I have in mind are inclusive of protection package, destination charge, and dealer fees, but exclusive of tax and registration. This may also be affected by whether you're financing or leasing, or purchasing other options above cost, in which case dealer has chance to make money from the transaction in other ways and may be more willing to go down on car price.

OTD price includes tax, tag, title, doc/prep fees, and destination. To fairly answer your question we would need to know:
1. State you live in and their car sales tax rate
2. Manual or Auto transmission (you can usually negotiate a lower price for the auto since the manual is in higher demand).

Yeah, sorry, I didn't read the OTD part. It's easier to talk about prices before tax and registration when you're comparing across regions. If you can get those prices OTD in a state with a moderately high sales tax, then that would be a great deal.

first rule of negotiation... be prepared to walk away. I did... about 4x. heck I had the papers all set up for a used GS300 but I walked because I didn't get the financing I wanted.

There are tons of strategies when it comes to purchasing vehicles, but one of the most effective one is having an attitude of indifference. (Let the dealers know you're opting for many other vehicles as well) Good luck!

My sticker price was 29,035, paid 28,183. In my opinion you can't go by what you see on this forum. Do with what you are comfortable with. I don't like negotiating at all. If I like the car enough and can do the payments, the job is done. Add $2500 for tax in NY and that is pretty close to the OTD price.
