RBP versus ABP

Hey Everyone,
I am about a month away from purchasing a new 06 TSX w/Navi auto, but I am stuck between the Artic Blue Pearl and Royal Blue Pearl colors. Being in Lexington, Kentucky, the local dealer has only had the ABP in stock, so I have not seen both in person and have not been able to compare them. I have seen the great pictures on this forum but I am still divided.

For those who have decided between these blue colors, can you tell me what color you chose and why?

Thanks!

RBP is much classier. ABP is way too bright for me (Audi S4 Blue bright.) But to each his own.

I've seen both, and I'd say go with the artic blue. it's a hott color and i talked to the person who had it and they said the best thing about it was that the color didn't show dirt...always looked clean

I went shopping specifically for a CGP. At the time I was in the market, the only thing on the dealer lots were ABP and the Milano Red. I did not have the patience to order a CGP, so I took the ABP. The color has grown on me. I guess the Milano Red was not popular either, because one local dealership uses them as the loaner fleet.

ABP is a rare color in my area at least. The car shows little dirt between weekly washings. I have had several compliments. Someone on the board called ABP a clown color, but I do not think it is loud myself. I have no regrets over not getting a CGP because it is a very popular color everywhere.

There is a whole thread dedicated to the RBP jewel that gets bounced daily. You might check that out as well. You can also find some Gallery threads on most colors as well.

I'm biased towards toward RBP as my TSX is due to arrive in mid-April...Royal Blue Pearl is also offered on the TL, so I'd see if your dealer has any TL's in RBP. It would at least give you an idea of the hue in person...

I love ABP. The color is very sharp, and I don't think it's cartoonish at all. It gives the TSX a very sporty look. You also won't see a lot of them around. On sunny days the car just sparkles.

I haven't seen the RBP around here yet, but check out excited's thread. They all love the color. Of course, you have to decide for yourself which color you want to live with.

I much prefer the RBP too. ABP is too bright for me, but it's your choice! The TSX looks awesome in any of its colors IMO.

RBP is quickly becoming as overated as CGP.

Definitely ABP.

I purchased my ABP in April 04 and got constant compliments on how nice the color was. Once I debadged the car, people were always asking what car it was because they said that it looked a lot sportier than the CGP and Silver TSXs they have seen.

2 years later, I still get compliments, even during the winter months of my baby being covered in salt.

IMHO, there is no better color for the TSX than ABP, especially in the sun.

I like the ABP. It's more of a true blue car. The RBP is pretty dark, much closer to black. I don't think the car is 'loud' either and I also didn't want something that blended in with every other TSX on the road (like black, white, silver).

I have one on order since they are hard to come by in 6MT.

The loaner fleet is whatever the factory gives them
I looked in the glove box of one once and saw the "pricing" sticker that they took off the window like we have on our cars. Instead of a price where the $ is, it just says "svc loaner".

Overall I love my ABP
I wish i was able to take a picture of the 06 abp which had a bit more curve to the stock body.

I went w/ the RBP b/c it was darker and I just prefer darker colors. But like someone else said in the thread, pics don't do the color justice.

The Arctic is nice too, but just too bright for my taste

It is geared for the younger crowed, like no dealers carried them in ny and said they needed to be special ordered.

I really love ABP..the color just pops out and looks really sexy on the TSX. RBP is more of a classy color in my opinion and ABP is more like an electric blue that catches your eye more. Both are nice colors, just depends on which u prefer.

I had a complement from a lady in her 70's that said it was the prettiest blue she had ever seen on a car! Of course it helped that my '06 ABP had just been washed. I like RBP too, but I thought it was too close to black.

Despite being a very proud owner of RBP, I also really like ABP.

For you to decided I think you need to decide what kind of look you want.

RBP as mentioned in other posts will be a little more classy looking.

I think tha ABP is a younger fresher look and if it had been available in Canada I defintely have given it a good look.

RBP can look very terrific but like other dark colours is a little harder to maintain. I don't mind doing the little extra so it is a great colour for me.

Good luck with your choice, you will be a winner with either choice!

I have an 05 ABP and it has definitely grown on me.
I was in the market for PWP but ABP was immediately available.
ABP is definitely flashier but doesn't overdo it at the same time. Much rarer than the other colors so daddy likes it!

Thank you everyone for your input and pictures! I have decided on the ABP, it seems to stand out more, and I saw one in our parking lot a couple days ago at work and I knew that was exactly what I wanted. The RBP is a great color, but a bit too dark for me.
